Re: Maruti Suzuki Looking To Foray Light Commercial Vehicle Segment

Maruti's LCV to be called Super Carry.
Maruti Suzuki aims to dedicate a capacity of up to 100,000 at its Gurgaon plant to a new light commercial vehicle (LCV). Likely to be called the ‘Super Carry’, the LCV will be launched in the April-June quarter.

This will be a “limited launch” in the April-June quarter this year because the market was weak. Sales through a new network of dedicated dealerships are expected to expand across the country only from the end of the year. Will have fewer dealerships. (Production) can go up to 1 lakh, but initial production will be much lower.Industry sources said the Super Carry would first be launched with an 800 cc diesel engine, and a CNG variant powered by a 1.2 litre engine next year. For the first year, Maruti has provided a production target of 80,000 LCVs to suppliers, which indicates a monthly volume of nearly 7,000

Maruti Y9T To Be Called "Maruti Super Carry"

GaadiWaadi has posted these images of a production ready Maruti ‘Y9T’ LCV, complete with the relevant badging. Towards the front, the LCV gets the Suzuki logo, and a ‘Super Carry’ badge, hinting that Maruti will indeed use this name, while the rear sees the ‘Maruti Suzuki’ badge, and a ‘CNG’ sticker.

The Super Carry will also come in a diesel variant which will make use of the newly-developed 0.8-liter two-cylinder DDiS engine, which debuted on the Celerio. On the hatchback, this engine produces 47 bhp and 125 Nm of torque, and offers a class-leading fuel economy of 27.62 km/l. The CNG variant of the Super Carry is reported to feature a 1.2-liter engine though.
The first LCV for Maruti in India will be manufactured in Gurgaon, and would be retailed through a dedicated range of dealerships, according to reports. The Tata Ace will be the primary rival for the Super Carry.
The Super Carry is expected with a 1 tonne payload capacity.

Re: Upcoming Commercial Vehicles in India

It seems Maruti is also eager to launch their first LCV to the indian market, was able to capture a pic of it while being tested on the maruti test track (inside Gurgaon plant), from some building adjacent to Maruti plant, this Friday.

Sorry for the poor quality image as had to zoom to the full before capturing it.[embarass]

I also saw Celerio being tested along with it, didn't notice any changes to the exteriors, so may be they are testing some changes to the engine or interiors.

I had seen a white Tiago too running on their test tracks a couple of weeks ago, however I was not very sure on this that time as i was talking on phone when i saw it from the window of a neighbor building but now after seeing Celerio also being tested i think that car (i saw last to last week) could definitely be a Tiago.
