The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is arguably one of the most talked-about hatchbacks in India and now, it has one more reason to be talked about. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has crossed the 50,000 bookings mark within a month of its launch. Maruti Suzuki's all-new Baleno has just received a huge Over-the-air-update. Recently the company rolled out an OTA software update for its hatchback which enables the car’s nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system to support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The update will be offered only to the top-spec Zeta and Alpha variants. Furthermore, it will allow the car to also have turn-by-turn navigation on the heads-up display and the MID in the instrument cluster.

Maruti Suzuki updates this 'Segment-First' safety feature in Baleno

Maruti Suzuki has silently updated the safety features on the Baleno. Upgrading the safety of the Baleno the company has introduced a three-point seatbelt for the rear centre passenger, as reported by Rushlane. With this update all the passengers in the Baleno will not get a three-point seatbelt for safety. There is no confirmation if this update will increase the price of the Baleno.

This update comes shortly after the Indian Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari announced that a three-point seatbelt should be mandatory for all front facing passengers in all new cars. This initiative comes in lieu of the minister’s commitment to reduce road fatalities in India by half by the end of 2025.

India’s top car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has upgraded the primary safety feature i.e. the seatbelt system on the Baleno. The changes to the safety system include upgradation of the seatbelt for rear centre passenger from a lapbelt to a proper three-point seatbelt. The three-point seatbelt will provide added safety to the rear centre passenger in case of a crash. The Baleno is a premium hatchback offering from the brand in the country which is retailed only via Nexa outlets across the country. It is also among the top products exported by the company to the international market.

We can expect Maruti Suzuki to carry out this safety upgrade in more cars in its lineup in the coming days. With safety gaining centre stage and becoming a paramount determining factor in a purchase, manufacturers are looking to increase the safety quotient of their vehicles.

Currently Maruti Suzuki offers the Baleno in nine variants in the price range of Rs 6.61 to 9.88 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza in the Indian market.
