Hi,

Recently, I have changed my booking to Maruti Swift Dzire vxi after waiting long (60 days +) for Ritz zxi. I did not hear anything positive from dealer on car delivery. My friend has also booked Dzire vxi with the same dealer but at different location in Bangalore.

Now both of us are getting numerous calls from sales rep and asking for full payment of the car. I have already made a payment of 1.1 Lac and my friend has given only booking amount. We have already mentioned that before making full payment we would like to see the vehicle. Dealer is saying that after full payment, we will be asked to see the vehicle once it arrives at dealer’s stockyard and, after confirmation, vehicle will be send for registration. Dealer is mainly pointing out that they would like to get the payment before financial year end.

I and my friend are personally against full payment because no one knows when the delivery will take place once we pay full. Dealer is saying that car will reach in 5 to 10 days.

Please advise whether it is good idea to pay the amount before we even look at the vehicle.

Thanks.
Don't pay full payment until you do the PDI yourself and you are satisfied with the car allocated to you. Take aprint out of PDI checklist available in the forum and do all the PDI yourself. Once your are satisfied with the car then go ahead and make full payment. I was also forced to make full payment for my Dzire before car arrived at stockyard but i refused stubbornly and only paid full payment once i was satisfied with the car.

In between does Dzire have waiting period in Bangalore? In Trivandrum it's available in 2 day's time. Do check with other dealer available in Bangalore. As per my information Swift and Dzire don't have waiting time anymore(In Trivandrum atleast[:D]).

Regards,
Sankar

Congratulations ...
Did you make any payment now ?
please remember to check the km done, the first thing before you sign delivery documents.
Yes, I made payment of 2.1L till now. I will pay rest today.

Good point. I will check the total km on odo but I think they can fiddle with that.

@Sankar : Yes, the waiting period has come down drastically. Last year, waiting period was 6-8 months flat. When I checked yeterday, I saw that it has come down to 1-2 months for all models: diesel and petrol!!

@psaha: I fail to understand what is the issue here? When I bought my PUNTO, I made entire payment upfront then car was allocated to me and VIN number was provided and after I confirmation only they sent it to registration. So until and unless registration is done, you reject the vehicle allocated to you.

Now As per my assumption, this is going to be case everywhere, as these cars sales have gone down. Earlier if one person cancels their booking, there were 1000 standing behind to get the car early by paying premium. But now situation has changed, any cancellation will just accumulate place at dealer's stock yard.

So, you can reject the vehicle as long as you do not like it and you could wait for long till it's available with dealer or you have been informed that it's available with dealer. But, if you pay the whole amount upfront before taking delivery of vehicle, you loose the interest for those days/months in case you takeout your money early.

Paying early is good when there are many options and you know that waiting period won't be long in case you choose to wait.

I do not know how does it work for loan option. Does bank provide the whole amount before delivery of the car?

Guys before registration insurance have to be taken, for an insurance the engine number, the chassis number the customers name, age, address are to be entered,
so the dealers confirms that the customer buys the allotted car, by making them pay at least 85% of the car price.
@pasha
Only after the bank's loan amount gets credited on the dealers account, the dealer starts the formality for registration.

I know this is the only reason people don't want to pay upfront, but loosing interest, how much would you loose?

Paying early is good when there are many options and you know that waiting period won't be long in case you choose to wait.
But how much would be waiting period after you made payment, it would max one month not more than that IMO.

Yes, they do. Once they have quote from dealer they do.

Still their absolutely no waiting periods for both Swift and Dzire here in Trivandrum. Also the dealerships in Trivandrum fight for customers so aggressively. We have 4 dealerships in Trivandrum. I suspect that's the reason why one can get a Swift/Dzire within a couple of days.

Not necessary. Banks give a "Bankers cheque" on the delar's name and so as soon as its dispersed, vechile will go for registration.

Yup one dealer said if i changed my order from Dzire Tour to New Dzire then can deliver the car on the very next day of paying the full payment. So no more waiting periods for new Dzire. If they say their are 1-2 months waiting period it's just their marketing technique to show the car is still a favorite.

Sankar
