Ok guys time for Updates--

My beast has crossed 1300 KM today and few of the things from my perspective.

1. I love the vehicle period. This has done something to me, Nowadays I am more exited to go to the office and also leave from office. Sometimes i have to take my zen estilo but my hearts still craves for XUV.

2. The power delivery is just superb. Cruising at the speed of 90 and some idiot is on the right lane just pat on the throttle and boom it goes. I like that. My major travelling is through the pune banglore bypass and old Bombay-Pune highway before i get into the city so I get to enjoy the open roads and the fun that comes with it. [drive]

3. Recently we went to a trip to satara, mahabaleshwar, sajan gad, wai and back to pune. The roads were uhhh decent i would say. The pune banglore bypass is still under construction at many places and one has to take the diversions a lot. i could keep my speedo at 100-110 for hardly 10 mins max then either a diversion or a truck would block the way. Overall it was good. Forgot to take any pictures of the beast.
--We were total of 8 people in the car including my 8 months nephew. dad and uncle were in the last row and were comfortable. As there is no place to keep the cargo we had to stack them in the middle row .

--Ride was pretty good did not jolt or move up or down ways on the highway. It just glided. Everyone was pretty comfortable in there seats. Car AC was on the whole time and it did a wonderful job at keeping the temp cool. I still haven't found a comfortable seating position as of yet.If i raise the height of the seat then my knee touches the key and is not at all comfortable
still experimenting.

--Gear changes i didn't find hard to engage. Yes there is a hesitation to shift in 2 but that is getting better with time rest all gears are butter smooth. Clutch is also very smooth and linear. It is on par with my zen estilo clutch. Steering is a live, that is what i would call that. My estilo's steering is pretty dead at all the speeds. what one means by getting the input through the steering i got to know after driving this beast. As speed builds up steering weighs up nicely and is fun to drive. My friend who drives a polo enjoyed the driving experience and especially the steering feel and the way this behaves a normal hatchback unless you look at the rear view mirror and notice the huge vehicle one is driving.

--Interiors are top notch. Yes there would be better interiors than this but this is to my taste. I loved the black interiors and the red mood lighting also the back light buttons look classy at night. There is soft touch trim on the door which i noticed few days back. It's not that i was born and bought up in a Mercedes so I am pretty happy with the quality and feel of the interior.

--Sound output is good and healthy till 1/4 of the total volume bar in rock mode after which the speakers cant handle the bass. In normal mode one can pump up till 60% of the total volume without loosing composure. I think it is good for now i dont think i would upgrade them. It is definitely better than the one i had in my zen estilo.

Things i dont like about the car
-- Maintaining the color is tough swirl marks are easily visible.
-- The hood above the speedo has started making noises. I have put a tissue under it for time being but would take care of it in the first servicing.
-- Right side mirror is making noise while folding Left side seems quit.
-- Also my front left tire has chipped at few places not on the side wall but on the tread. will post the pics. I have a bridgestone dealer near my home will show him as i get the time.
-- [thinking] i ll have to think more.

This car definitely brings the grin on my face every time i drive it. I had read in almost all the ownership threads that the car brings grin and smile to the face which i never understood until i bought one. But all in all I am very happy with the purchase and so is the family.

hello dheeraj,
completely read your thread as well as subscribed it. your observations are on the same boat. new xuv has way too much chrome. upgrade reason, if any is larger newer touch screen. otherwise they didn't give us the sliding middle row.

soon the xuv bug will bite you and the addiction to power / performance is stubborn.

feel free to drop me a line if you need any Help.
have a great journey with your beast!

hey thanks a lot and I would say this is just the beginning of happy journey. [drive]

I seem to see only one below the monogram. [confused]

may be one on the rear glass but that is just a sticker which can be removed.
Dheeraj, "Silver Jubilee' has habit to stick their name on XUV.. Your car seem has just below of 'Mahindra' monogram, is it plastic embossed or a regular sticker?

I had specifically told Kundan Motors to not put any of the Kundan Motors sticker on the car during delivery.
Great Kinshuk..

An update we went on a 300KM trip this week end to Bhimashankar. All is good with the car. The journey was pretty good did not face any problems with the car. Road presence of the car is something one should experience once. On the way only one honk or flash of light was enough to get way ahead and i was not even dominating them like taking the car to close and then honking. while coming back there was a lot of fog on the road visibility was reduced considerably glad i had the navigation i could see the coming turn before hand.

Only thing i noticed was that my steering is not at the neutral position i mean the horizontal position. To keep the car in straight line i have to keep my steering a bit tilted to the left not by a large angle but noticeable. Is it the alignment issue? if yes then how come the car lost its alignment in just 2k KM's . Should i get it checked at the bridgestone dealer nearby and get the alignment done?

Another thing I noticed was slight vapor condensation in the tail light housing. I was thinking of getting it checked in the first servicing, Or should i get it done on urgent basis? any suggestions?

One more thing i noticed is that the previous color of the xuv was tuscon RED but mine is Road to Mara. I somehow thought that this color is a bit different to the original red at the time of launch . This has more of maroon in it but i like this more than the original one. @kinshuk can you please check your color.

Hi Dheeraj,

The steering does sit at 5-6 degrees offset. I dont think that is because of the allignment but do get it checked once.

Allignment has always been an issue with XUV try getting it done from an outside shop rather than the service center.

From the beginning the car had been Tuscan Red, Road to Mara is the name given to the same colour in Europe and other countries. Mine also says the Tuscan Red on RC and Road to Mara on the window sticker with bar codes.

Hello. Beast is going great.just completed one year.About to complete 19000 KM's . 2nd servicing will be due shortly.

There are no problems to report as of yet. No accidents,dents,scratches(touch-wood).
Car is absolute pleasure to drive and own. Just now a days its seem that i am not able to find a comfortable sitting position, my back aches . this is after i myself messed up with the sitting position. . Also i guess my steering is slightly misaligned- it is like 10 degrees inclined towards right. will have to check it .
Apart from this one happy owner.[drive]
how bout you? how is your car?

my car is good too.
although I wouldn't call myself as Lucky with respect to niggles. AC isn't working well & my jammed schedule hasn't given any time for the beast.

otherwise it's good. driving is always a pleasure.

try adjusting the lumbar setting for back support.
