Hi AmilRaj,

I think you are taking good care of the XUV500 by following this way. Though I am not sure about this as I too have new age XUV5OO AWD but I just press clutch two three times before doing cold start, so that the gear works well through out.

I read this point somewhere in Team BHP, a person using this for its scorpio

Gear to speed ratio should best be judged by your instincts. You got to figure out the way to balance between over-stressing the engine and lugging it. So choose the gears accordingly.

Following is mentioned in XUV manual about gearshift vs speed and this is not specific to running-in period.

Mahindra XUV500 Facelift Launched @ Rs.11.21 Lakh (Coverage: Page 7)

A small update. Got the 3M nomat matting done from 3M store in kailash colony. The staff there is super courteous. Wanted to get the exteriors cleaned too but unfortunately their pressure washer was not working. Did vaccum cleaning of the entire interiors and cleaned the exteriors using a microfibre cloth, both complementary. Anyways, I was quoted 7050 including taxes for the Mats for my xuv. Got some discounts after talking to the manager Mr. kuldeep and finally paid Rs.6200 net. The fit, finish and feel is awesome. Also had a long friendly chat with the owner of this outlet, the pride of India : champion rally racer Mr. Gourav gill. Overall, a satisfying experience.

correction: The manager's name was Yogender and not kuldeep. Also I only got the front two rows done and left the third one as its seldom used and was costing extra. so please compare the quotes accordingly :)

Good. That makes sense. In Bangalore for three rows 3M quoted around 8K for three rows. Can you please post pics with Mats.

Hi All
I would like to share my views on new age XUV5OO W10 AWD which I bought on 4th Jun’15 from Noida Koncept dealer.
The search started in the month of Sep 2014, when I sold my Hyundai Getz in which I did lot of road trips, covered most places in Himachal, did manali- Leh and last was Raid De Himalaya in 2013. After that I wanted to upgrade my wheels with complete package (i.e. 7 seater, can go to any place, little off road capabilities, safety features, etc). So considering these things in mind, I finalized Fortuner and XUV5OO, took test drive of both the vehicles. I liked the fortuner Automatic 4X4 but the feature list and driving pleasure in XUV was better and off course 10 lakhs less which is good amount to save.

So I decided to go with XUV500 and dropped an email to Mahindra Customer care with few queries, they have aligned someone to explain all the points and I was satisfied. I asked the question about Automatic and facelift of XUV5OO but no one confirmed but rumors were there so waited till May and finally we had the news of facelift but again no automatic but can’t wait another year for it, so I decided to go with W10 AWD black color.

Cost includes:
Exshowroom : 16,01,670.55
Registration: 131,734 ( Uttar Pradesh)
Insurance : 48,257 ( 0 dep + engine protection)
Handling: 7500
No accessories taken from the dealer.

Additional thing
Waxyol Paint protection + anti Corrosion + fabric protection : 12000
3M film, all glasses : 7000
Upgrades:
1. Replaced the existing Bridgestone tyre with Pirelli Scorpion Verde
Size : 255/60/R17
From : Lajpat nagar ( famous Jitesh). Very nice guy and guided me well.
HID KIT for projector low beam ( 55W 6000K) and OSRAM Night breakers H7 in high beam

Driving experience :
So far I have driven around 1300 KMs and it was amazing experience, the feel you get from the driver seat is very commanding. Ride and handling is very nice, I hardly hear any noise inside the cabin, engine is very smooth, I recently touched 100 and it was as smooth as butterfly. After changing the tyre, I feel that the grip is better and zero noise.

Tested almost all the controls, the one which I was searching for was “hill hold feature” button but there is no button for it. However this is something which you need not to switch it on XUV sense it automatically when you are climbing any surface and suddenly stops, the hill hold feature will be activated and gives you 3 second breaking which will let you roar back without decline.

Start stop function works effortlessly but I do not use it frequently. Voice command also works well and do the job nicely.
Sun roof and passive entry is worth addition in XUV5OO and I think they are of very good quality. I heard somewhere that push button start/ passive entry system is from Continental and they have one of the best systems .
Cabin feels very roomy and comfortable and lot of features to explore.

Also looking for HUD ( Head up Display) installation as getting all information from the speed dial is little cumbersome in XUV5OO. The one which Mahindra Accessories had displays only the speed and it doesn’t have OBD connector. I searched few on Ebay and they have HUD with OBD connector and display much more vital information. Once I’ll get it I will post the images of that too.

Few niggles which needs to be addressed during first service:
Flickering of Moon light

  • Wiper shivering while running at slow speed

Few quick clicks of the XUV5OO.
Thanks

Will keep on updating new developments

Great choice man. Congrats
By the way, I have a query since I am aiming for a W6. What average fuel economy can I expect from XUV? Will it spoil the warranty, if I add an after market touchscreen infotainment system in W6?

@amilraj, although the dealer would always discourage getting any electrical work from outside but i dont think there would be a warranty issue as long as there is no cutting/splicing of wires. Use a relay and you are good to go. @Its_Me, my first full tank lasted me 700 kms with 20 "kms to empty" on the infotainment system. Its showing me an average of 11.1 but i need to verify that using the full tank to full tank method now. It was my usual drive from south delhi to noida and back. I am keeping the rpm needle below 2000 religiously. I believe it should go upto 13 after the running in period and 10k service.
