re: Mahindra Scorpio VLX Mist Silver - 49,000 Kms and Counting

Hi Mukesh, good to know all is well with the hawk. Thanks for sharing the detailed pics of the clutch assembly. I'm wondering why there is a price difference, for the clutch plate (Well, the price differs on almost all). Shouldn't the spares cost the same across all the service centers?

Also, apart from the issue you faced in 4th gear, was there any other symptoms? (Engine revving without increase in speed, hard gear shift etc). Did they replace the Flywheel as well?
Avindu they changed all the things , flywheel though mechanically was good, they changed it under Goodwill Warranty and I was not billed.
If I had left the car in dealership, bill would have same as you.
As M&M knew my issue and the service habits of my Hawk, Regional CCM ensured that it was covered under good will.
Now I have new transmission system on my hawk.

They were ready to give me a loaner car a Verito ad backup, as there was no pilot switch that holds these clutch components, I had to pressurize them I needed the vehicle same day, which Regional CCM made the part available around 6pm.
For this part to arrive they needed 2 days.
Moreover if your vehicle is in dealership and occupies a ramp, they lose some money as at the same time other vehicle could have been serviced, and that cost lands on you.
I was standing on shop floor monitoring my car all the time.

All those things made me push them to deliver it that day.

Gear and clutch was not at all hard , but I used to face sticky power situation, where engine raises, pickup dropped for a moment and surges ahead.
Which was probably a sign of clutch wearing.

One thing avinash if there is issue with clutch all the related parts should be changed in tandem, and not individually.

As I specifically mentioned them the state of flywheel, they changed that also.
And no charges for clutch overhaul.

So I took a preventive measure, so that on my long trip with family should be safe.

Here are the actual pics of Clutch plate, Slave Cylinder kit, Pressure plate, and Pilot switch,Clutch Release Bearing.

However as the Flywheel was covered under warranty, it was retained with them.

The Slave cylinder kit which holds the pressure plate, seems to have been manufactured on 12/03/2008.

But vehicle has rolled out from factory in August 2008.

Rolled out of dealership on 10/11/08, so exactly clutch system was 8 months old.
Probably made for Crde, as mentioned on the Pressure plate.

Ok my Hawk had been to M&M PUC(Pollution Under Control) camp.
The folks at M&M Mumbai had literally spammed my Message inbox, by sending SMS many times, as i was free and thought to visit the dealership.

Ok here goes the Emission test , initially they put the sensor on bonnet and did the test on other vehicle, then i said How is that possible, atleast you should insert the sensor to the engine exterior, then they opened the bonnet and did the Revving, which i have never done till now.

These guys get furious as soon as i visit them.
They also had promised me interior treatment which they did it today.
As they had greased the seats which was inevitable during the transmission change on my Hawk.

Now good thing is SKS has hired 3M boys not professionals for cleaning.
All the shelf they clean are using 3M products, which is way better than the earlier Wurth from Orange Care Professionals.

Btw removed the sunfilms of my Hawk 2 weeks back and this is how it looks now.[cry]

And My Hawk passed the test with flying colors, no smoke at all.

Hi Mukesh, I opt for insurance outside and not with M&M. reason- I have getting a massive 10k difference. And so no Fibee on the mats.
However, i m getting Fog lamps and car cover Free. as Feebi
M&M quote - 34K for 8.9L coverage (ICICI or Bajaj or Tata)
United insurance quote - 23K for 8.9L coverage.

Oh , you should have bargained first and then should have told them about the insurance part.

That is what i did, first we had several sessions of test drive, and made the Sales Advisor to get all the stuffs(accessories)scuff plate, Floor mat,Body cover, Rain visors etc.

Simple just told them the other competitor is providing it free.

Then they just waived it off.

Then we gave a shocker that we will get our own insurance .

Then he just obliged.

If you are selling the previous vehicle, then you will get NCB of the previous vehicle to the newer one.

By that i got 35% of NCB transferred from our Zen to Scorpio, we just changed the ownership in a relatives name and got the NCB transferred, tell your agent the same, he might not tell you as he may get less commission.

So 1st year i had paid only 19,900/- for a Insurance cover, which would have been 38000 at the dealership for my Scorpio Vlx in 2008.

Just thought to change the battery in remote of central locking.

The 1st remote, i have been using from the past 3 & half years.

Still it has life, but i thought to change it as a preventive measure, because it may leak any day.

Now have been using the 2nd remote.

Any info on where one can get the battery of this size 23A-12V from GP Alkaline.
And price of the same in Bangalore.
No stock in dealership, a standard reply.

But Will they differ in freebies like Maruti guys. The reason Maruti has many dealers so there are chances. But M&M has only 2. India Garage and Siris right.
