Mahindra Oja: New Global Tractor Platform

Mahindra has introduced “Oja” as the brand name for its new future-ready range of tractors, scheduled to launch later this year, from its most ambitious global tractor program, K2.

• The name “Oja” is derived from the Sanskrit word “Ojas” which symbolises vitality, energy and strength.
• Mahindra Oja is Mahindra’s all-new lightweight global tractor platform, which focuses on domestic as well as international markets including USA, Japan, and South-East Asia.
• It has been developed through a close cooperation between the engineering teams of Mitsubishi Mahindra Agriculture Machinery (Japan) and Mahindra Research Valley (India).
• Mahindra Oja will have four sub-tractor platforms: sub-compact, compact, small utility and large utility — tractor categories, covering 40 models across various multiple HP points.
• These tractors will be manufactured exclusively at Mahindra’s Zaheerabad tractor facility; one of South-Asia’s largest and Mahindra's youngest tractor manufacturing plants.
• Mahindra is the only tractor manufacturer in Telangana, having invested close to ₹10.87 billion in Zaheerabad. It employs over 1,500 workers, with annual capacity of 1,00,000 tractors on a two-shift basis.
• The Zaheerabad plant is technologically advanced, with flexibility to roll-out over 330 different tractor variants ranging from 30 to 100 BHP, with 65% of Zaheerabad’s tractor production being exported globally.

Going with the trend of making its major announcements on the Independence Day, Mahindra will officially unveil Mahindra Oja, its most technologically advanced global tractor platform on 15th August 2023.

Mahindra has introduced seven lightweight 4WD tractors at an event held in Cape Town, South Africa. Mahindra Oja 2127 and 3140 are priced at ₹5,64,500 and ₹7,35,000 respectively.

• Mahindra Oja will be “Made in India, for the World” product. It is developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi Mahindra Agriculture Machinery, Japan.
• Oja range will be launched in North America, ASEAN, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Europe and SAARC region. Mahindra will debut in ASEAN region starting with Thailand in 2024.
• The company has unveiled new tractors on three Oja platforms: Sub-compact, Compact and Small Utility platforms. Seven new products for the Indian market are based on the latter two.
• The tractors will be available with first-in-segment technology features, based on Three Technology Packs: MYOJA (Intelligence Pack), PROJA (Productivity Pack) and ROBOJA (Automation Pack).
