The Kawasaki KLX 230 has been officially unveiled in India. The dual sport motorcycle has been undergoing testing in India, with some localised components, for quite some time. Now that the bike has been officially unveiled in India, Kawasaki has thrown open bookings at RS 5,000. The price, however, will be revealed in December, perhaps at the India Bike Week 2024.

The Kawasaki KLX 230 is styled in a way that it looks purposeful. There are minimal body panels all around which also translates to less damage if and when the bike falls while riding off-road. To elaborate there’s a small headlight with a cowl around it, a high-set mudguard, a small fuel tank and a stubby tail. The seat height is tall at 880mm.

The bike is powered by a 233cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 18.1bhp at 8,000rpm and 18.3Nm at 6,400rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Kawasaki claims that the engine offers good low and mid range grunt while the six-speed gearbox will make it easy to cruise down the highway.

As for the chassis, the bike has a tubular steel frame with a 37mm telescopic fork at the front and a link-type mono-shock at the rear with adjustable preload. Kawasaki adds that the travel at the front is 240mm while the wheel travel at the rear is 250mm.

The bike rides on a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel shod with MRF tyres. It has a pretty generous ground clearance of 265kg and it is quite lightweight at 139kg. This should make it easier to handle the bike while riding off-road.

Braking duties, meanwhile, are taken care of by a 265mm disc at the front and 220mm disc at the rear. The bike comes with switchable ABS as well, allowing you to lock the rear and slide the bike, while riding off-road.

Kawasaki is also offering the KLX 230 with a decent set of features, such as a fully digital display with Smartphone connectivity.

The KLX 230 will be available in two colours- Lime Green and Battle Gray.
