Tata motors sells 13002 vehicles in Aug 2016. (16% YoY increase)
Passenger cars accounted for 11435 (17% YoY increase)

Tough competition between Tata Toyota and Renault. Honda seem to be joining the league of the above trio off late. So there is Suzuki the undisputed leader, Hyundai at distant second and then still a distant third place by Mahindra. Then we have close competition for 4th spot between Tata, Toyota, Honda, and off late the Renault.

let Tata launch their Hexa, Kite5 and Nexon then the no.3 spot will be contested between Indian Manufacturers.

Here is the big picture of August sales . Honda and GM are the only dark spots( in mass market segments) in August sales in an otherwise healthy growth trend.

Purely from an auto enthusiast perspective, its a sad story when the largest selling cars have some very ordinary build quality and average dynamics, harping only on essentially useless features like folding ORVMs, touch-screens and shiny DRL inserts. But what would you expect from a country where majority of the people feel that wearing a seatbelt is a chore by itself, and that kids must sit on the drivers lap or prance about in the cabin, or that atleast 15 people must be squeezed into a Mahindra/Force Motors Utility vehicle. Thank god for forums like Automotive India where we can atleast vent our frustration !

After the implementers of compulsory family planning programme in our country were sent to jail, this (unsafe vehicles) was probably only way left to curb the population.

MSIL'S nicely built & safer cars viz.. Scross, Gypsy do not find place in top 20!!

Tata's Tiago sells 4527 and Datsun's RediGo clocks 3502 units!

Vitara Brezza tops the UV segment, Ciaz leads in the C segment while Hyundai's i20( Elite+ Active) regains the top slot in the Premium hatch segment.
