Usually, they(automakers) float a rumour in the Nov-Dec about future price hike so as to get rid of this year's stock.
Ironically, they declare highest discount schemes in December.
Agreed.
I think the discounts will extend all the way till jan end next year.

Just because I took a hyundai TD a week back, I am getting calls every alternate day to make a booking in the Dec month itself. They just choose to ignore me when I say I'll buy in Jan and not before. Desperate times !! They are really trying hard to push the sales numbers for dec. [:D]

No harm you can buy on Dec 30th or 31st and get it regd on the new year. Jan 2014 manufactured vehicles wont be sold until Feb 2014.

Thats ok, but as I hear there are going to be more discounts given during January sales.
To be frank, due to other engagements I cant take the vehicle before 1st week of Jan.

Re: The 2014 Honda City (First Look: Page 12)

Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice-president for marketing and sales at Honda Cars India told FE, “We are deciding the quantum of price increase and are working with our finance and accounts team. It will be effective from April 1”.
Honda to increase car prices of its entire range from April 1 - Financial Express

I don't know which one to believe, I earlier posted a email I received from the dealership about the price hike in the second week of this month. here it says from April first.

Big problem for the people who booked Petrol VX-MT in KA as current ex showroom price at 9.91L and increased price if it goes above 10L then the notorious Road Tax would jump another 45K [frustration]

Audi is going to hike prices across the lineup by 3% starting from May 1.
"The overall market scenario has remained challenging with the constant fluctuation in forex rate which has resulted in rise in input and operational costs. To address this, we have rationalised prices, but have ensured that the impact is as minimal as possible" - Joe King.

Carmakers such as Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, Toyota, Ford, GM & Mercedes put brakes on price hikes despite margin pressures

NEW DELHI: For Indian carmakers, profiteering has taken a backseat this time. After announcing price increases from April, most companies such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar, Ford Motors, General Motors & Mercedes Benz are holding on to their old prices to avoid any market backlash expected due to a weak demand and falling sales.

Only a handful such as Honda Car India and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) have gone ahead with their price increases, while German carmaker Audi will change prices from May.
