Starting with the first one, Honda Car India sold 7,769 units in Aug 2022. The export numbers stood at 2,356 units. The company had registered 11,177 units in domestic sales and exported 2,262 units in August 2021.

Honda could soon phase out diesel cars in India

Honda Cars India could discontinue diesel powered cars in the Indian market thanks to the tightening emission norms. India will require all cars sold here to adhere to Real Time Driving Emissions (RDE) from 2023, and this is said to be behind Honda’s decision to axe diesel powered cars. Currently, Honda sells three diesel cars in India – the City sedan, the WR-V crossover and the Amaze compact sedan. All three cars use the same 1.5 liter all-aluminium i-DTEC turbo diesel engine with 98.6 Bhp-200 Nm outputs. This diesel engine was specifically developed for the Indian market, and is manufactured at the automaker’s Tapukara factory in Rajasthan.

Takuya Tsumura, president & CEO of Honda Cars India says about the Japanese automaker’s future plans,

''We are now not thinking too much about diesel. It’s very hard to clear RDE with the diesel. Even in Europe, most of the brands could not continue with diesel.''

Honda Cars India sold 8,714 units in September 2022 (opposed to 6,765 units in September 2021) registering a growth of 29%. The exports stood at 2,333 units in September 2022, opposed to 2,964 in September 2021.

Honda Cars India has registered monthly domestic sales of 9,543 units in October 2022 with 18% YoY growth. The export numbers stood at 1,678 units in October 2022.

Honda Cars India achieves two million production milestone

Honda Cars India has today announced that the company has achieved the milestone of producing two million (twenty lakh) units in the country. The company’s two millionth made-in-India unit, a Honda City sedan, was formally rolled out of the assembly line at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tapukara – Rajasthan.

Honda claims to have cumulatively invested over Rs 10,000 crore since setting up its operations in India. Its milestone event was attended by senior leadership from Honda’s regional office including Hiroshi Tokutake, Executive Vice President, Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Katsuhiro Kaneda, Director, Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. along with the Honda Car India’s management team.

Honda Cars India retailed 7,051 units in November 2022. Export numbers stood at 726 units for the same period. The company had registered 5,457 units in domestic sales and exported 1,447 units in November 2021.

Honda Cars India Sales Highlights:

• The company registered monthly domestic sales of 7,062 units in December 2022. Export numbers stood at 1,388 units in December 2022.
• Honda Cars India had registered a sales of 7,973 units in domestic market and exported 1,165 units in December 2021.
• During the Calendar Year 2022, cumulative growth stood at 7% with sales of 95,022 units in the domestic market against 89,152 units in CY 2021.
• The company also recorded a growth of over 43% in its exports with 23,428 units in CY 2022 against 16,340 units exported in previous year CY 21.

Honda Cars India recorded domestic sales of 7,821 units in January 2023. The export numbers stood at 1,434 units. Just for reference, domestic sales and exports in January 2022 were 10,427 and 1,722 units respectively.

• HCIL registered annual domestic sales of 91,418 units during FY 22–23 (opposed to 85,609 units during FY 21-22), recording 7% growth over the last financial year.
• The company exported a total volume of 22,722 units during FY 22-23 as compared to 19,401 units in FY 21-22, registering over 17% of growth.
• Honda Cars India registered monthly domestic sales of 6,692 units and export of 3,189 units in March 2023 against 6,589 units in domestic sales and 2,243 units of export in March 2022.
