Etios liva is a big no-no for me. Seems Toyota thought that Indians are idiots that they will buy anything thrown to them under Toyota name [anger].

i10 is a tried & tested one. Will wait for Brio drive, some owners feedback & then & only then comment. I personally don't like to comment things based on paper only, in real time, the car may perform differently.

Eg. Jazz is good for city but runs out of steam on highway. Need to down shift while overtaking. The steering becomes too light as well. Will drive Brio, as & when possible & then check.

As of now, it is i10, 1.2.

About the Brio glass tail-gate, it costs Rs2300 to replace so not exorbitantly expensive an accident. Insurance covers it 100% -Sirish Chandran

Voted i10, tried and tested and has evolved with time (addition of VTVT in kappa2).
iVtec is good but waiting to see how the new car performs. Brio has been priced and styled aggresively. Price a hit, but style can be a miss (so was said for the swift too).
No to Liva. Toyota can come up with something much better.

Honda Brio vs Hyundai i10
These two are best competitors but among them Hyundai i10is best because these are extra facilities in it than "Brio"
Power Windows
Leather Seats
CD Player
AntiLock Braking System

it's mileage capacity is greater than Brio and also are some features which are best in i10.

i will go for Etios Liva any day if the comparisons are between the 3 given cars. I10 though a good car is more of a smaller hatch with no space. Etios liva is actually in lines iwth Swift, i 20 and polo

No way it is equal with swift or i20, because they have good body build and better interiors unlike the bare basic one in the Liva, I would anyday purchase a Vista over Liva, for it has a good presence and doesn't feel cheap from anywhere and in Liva, you could make out more easier

Its Hyundai i10 for me. Its a practical car among the 3. (style, comfort, resale, powerful - power to weight ratio.)

Brio is a really good option, but all glass hatch and no wiper or even defogger is ridiculous. Hyundai i10 may have narrow width , but its a great boon to drive in traffic and more sales / service outlets and better resale value tops it all. Resale steals the crown away from Brio or Live, Liva, though has good dimensions, its no greater than maruti 800 with those dull interiors and center placed speedo console. Liva doesnt stand a chance to be compared here.

Toyota engine is a gem,if one can over look interiors part its best vehicle available in its segment.
infact Toyota Service is cheaper than hyundai carts for sure and it can compete to maruti also.(where as only authorised service centres are concerned)
Brio is for enthusiast as its more fun to drive than any other car in its segment.brio are for those who love driving.although it fails to provide boot space as compared to its compitition.
I dont rate i10 as it doesnt deserve that.hyundai jokers still cannot find the steering issue of older models completely.
Hyundai commitment to its customers is nil.they dont believe to built relationships they only know how to attract customers by giving hefty discounts and selling them defective vehicle which cannot be repaired or corrected in future too.

It's a personal choice Vishwas at the end of the day. If you want premium interiors and premium feel with all the features possible with Airbags, EBS and EBD go for the the I 20 by paying a premium price for a hatchback. But you will have to live with the higher maintenance cost as compared to a maruti or Toyota plus low ground clearence of I20 (just 165 ) and low fuel efficiency of its petrol car. Come on, with the size at which I 20 comes, 1.2 CC engine doesnt make sense at all and thats the reason it has such a low fuel efficiency. In city driving, none of my friends have reported me a mileage more than 12. Not to forget the low pickup of i20.

In defence of the Liva, firstly its a Toyota product. So be rest assured on its reliable engine and hassle free maintenance experience. Also the exteriors are not bad at all. Ofcourse not a class topper like a polo or Punto but it has its own charm and followers. Also with the new beige interiors, the interiors have improved comparatively. Completely agree not comparable to an I20 or polo or Punto.

So at the end of the day, the choice goes something like this -
If you are looking for a spacious, comfortable, reliable, hassle free maintenance car with good mileage and safety features (Airbags, ABS with EBD) within an affordable price (Rs 6.25 lakhs for the G SP petrol variant) but having average interiors than go for Liva. Or

On the other hand, if premium looks (both exterior and interior) is your order of the day while compromising on a little higher price (Asta variant comes in the range of 7.65 lakhs in bangalore), low mileage and higher maintenance costs, then go for an I20.

About Swift, i like the car a lot. But from a practicality standpoint, the rear legroom and head room space are not suitable for tall people in India. Also boot space is very less compared to I20 or Liva.

So the choice is finally about individual preferences.

Agreed Alex that Liva doesn't have those great interiors. But I10 and Liva are not comparable in the first place. Its like comparing apples and mangoes. I10 is smaller car compared to a liva. Am a person who is 6'3 inches tall. Any showrrom i go to, people suggest me to consider only Liva, I20, polo, Ritz or punto from a comfort and space standpoint. Even Santro gives you better space compared to I 10

From a resale value standpoint, i have checked it with the various dealers be it Toyota or Hyundai. With Hyundai cars (i10 and i20), the price of the car is depreciated by 30 to 40% the moment you purchase the car and choose to sell it the next day. Whereas if you go for the Toyota car (say etios or liva), the price gets depreciated by only 25%. Also note that the life of a toyota engine is far greater any Hyundai engine. Its much more reliable at the end of the day. And in the market, the resale value of the car depends a lot on the engine rather than just looks of exteriors and interiors

I will stick to i10. Tried & tested, cheap to maintain with good FE & overall less cost of ownership.
