Hi Buddy,

I have a question regarding upgrading the Horn.

Can we take the power output directly from the pin connecting to the OEM horn (bypassing the OEM horn) and directly split and connect to the upgraded Horns for power? Do we need any sort of relays for this?

I heard from the Honda accessories shop, that we need to cut some wire behind the steering wheel (wire from the horn switch to the horn) for upgrading the horns and this will void the warranty by default.

By the way with this funny weak horn Honda is going to end up in more claims!!! as no one is responding to this weak horn..
You can use the stock horn power to drive the relay and drive the horn on the safe side. Need to cut wire only if you want to alternate between stock and new horns.

Re: DIY Door Sills

Hi Vishnu,

I have recently purchased Amaze. I am following your thread since long.

Really appreciate how you take care of your car.

I am also planning to go for LED Door Stills( From snap deal), meanwhile i have asked my honda service ppl if they can fit it for me. They are ready to install but they warned me that it will scratch my doors on long time. also they told it is not water proof. while washing car it may go off.

Pls suggest me and share your experience on this.

Thanks.

Re: DIY Door Sills

Ever since Test driving Honda Amaze, That one problem haunting me was the cabin noise . Though not everyone noticed it, some so called enthusiast friend's of mine, showed their pity faces, as they just got that only one reason to point out on My car.So, Idea of Damping the whole car came into my mind and DIY'ed.

hi vishnu
even I did the same kind of sound damping work on my car car my self.
I used wurth damping mats. I damped all four doors, boot area, underneath bonnet and A-pillar . engine sound has reduced definately.
I also changed the front speakers. I installed Rainbow Audio two way component with cross-over . Now the music sounds really good. will post some pics in my ownership thread.
From where did you buy those damp mats ? If it's online can you get me those links ? I have just done all four doors, there are still many more places to be done , will be doing it soon ![;)]

Thanks buddy, by the way I have got quotes for Rs.850 for "Roots Wintone" (Minda and Bosch for Rs. 750) with installation free, with out any relay or other fittings (no wire cutting [:)]) bypassing the stock horn.

Can you elaborate the need of a relay? is it really needed?

Bosch windtone costs no more than 550 Rs, please do check with other accessory shops. It's recommended you replace the stock horn with bosch. Else you have to fix a cut-out.

I have been following your post and you have created a real impression of Amaze in my mind. I'm little confused over which one to buy with my 8L budget. I can go for Amaze SMT Diesel and also for Ford Classic Diesel(under discount) within the same range.
-Mileage: Both cars are giving almost the same.
-Ford is an proper sedan and Amaze is a notch-back.
-Ford build is better than amaze.
-Ford Classic is much more spacious and a proven car. But it is old in market.
-Amaze is pretty new and i think Honda maintenance and A.S.S is better than Ford.
Need suggestion on which one will be a better option. i have taken test drive, both have excellent handling, noise in Amaze was little more than Classic.

I would suggest Amaze as you have said Ford classic is bit old in market and Honda Amaze will have better resale value in future.

My Amaze SMT iDtec urban titanium color is scheduled for delivery on Nov 1st. Dealership sales person is pushing me hard to take Honda Assure but I got a quote with zero depreciation with Full Invoice price add-on cover from Royal Sundaram which is 6k less than what I need to pay for Honda Assure. Any suggestion which one should I choose?

I would suggest to go for the Royal Sundaram. The dealers will push for Honda Assure as they will get a commission out of it.

Thanks for the suggestion venky.
Resale value is not a concern as i intend to keep my car for a long time. one more car came back on my list. I20 sports diesel, getting good discount and on-road is 7.6L(except steering feedback i like everything). Amaze SMT is coming out 7.8L(NVH issue) and fiesta classic 8.2L(68bhp only, and little old). Don't know how to pick one really.

Does I20 sports has alloy wheels?
I would definitely rule out Ford Classic. Boty I20 and Amaze are very good options.
Interiors of I20 has a more premium feel compared to Amaze. You will be spending all your time inside the car and this premium feel is always a feel good factor.
Advantage in Amaze is that you will get a good boot space compared to I20.

Go by what your heart says. In spite of all the pros/cons the heart will like only one car.

i20 sports brings in alloy wheels, Auto temp control, rain sensing wipers, rear parking sensor, fog lamps, better ICE, extra air bag and defogger compared to (SMT amaze)
Amaze:- Length: 3990, Width: 1680
i20:- Length: 3995, Width: 1710
3 passengers will be more comfortable in i20 at rear seat. Both have neglegible hump at rear seat.
What Amaze gives extra is 110L boot, better steering feedback and higher ground clearance.
If only i20 had better ground clearance and a better steering feedback i would have no doubts.
With Amaze i want to change so many things once i get inside the car(plastic quality, rattling sounds, NHV, ICE, adjustable head rest).
Looks like there is no perfect car which can tick all my wishlist [frustration]

Based on your comments, looks like you really like the i20's VFM but Amaze provides you a sedan look.

From what I understand, i20 satisfies lot of your needs compared to Amaze.

Relay is like a switch operated by electric signal, which can handle more current. Stock horn connection can be used to operate it. it is used to create a parallel circuit which can handle more amps. Relay is always advised since it protect's the circuit.

What you pointed out is just true to the core. Noise is amaze can be reduced by Damping doors and hood which I've done and found a great change in the NVH level. The only drawback with Ford classic is that it's OLD.

Thanks for the suggestion venky.

I also had a big crush towards the I20 and just beacuse of it's poor steering response , i felt to left it out. i was drooling at all the gizmos in I20 for a long time

There is nothing with the bhp values, Fiesta must have a better top end than the 100bhp amaze beacuse it's top end is limited at 145kmph[frustration]. That's where i felt so sad. But the way it accelerates till 145kmph is just mindblowing[clap]

But there's a small point that you missed out, the EVERY extra feature will be sufficient enough to burn a hole in your pocket after a mishap.

Go Test drive all the vehicles that you like on one day and get a conclusion. I have spend more than 6 months on test drives to select my companion. :)
