With the Dakar Rally set to take place soon, Hero MotoCorp has launched the Xpulse 200 Dakar edition, priced at Rs 1.67 lakh, ex-showroom. The new Hero Xpulse 200 Dakar Edition gets updated over the standard version of the Xpulse 200 to make it more off-road capable, while also getting some visual changes.
The Dakar edition gets the livery on the side panels inspired by the Hero rally motorcycles, while it also gets a prominent ‘Dakar’ logo on the fuel tank. The two small visual updates make the motorcycle feel special as Hero is one of the leading teams in the Dakar Rally, having finished the overall standings in second last year with Ross Branch at the helm.
The next update over the standard motorcycle is the fully adjustable front telescopic forks with 250mm travel, giving the motorcycle a massive 270mm ground clearance. For reference, the KTM 890 Adventure R has a ground clearance of 263mm. The Dakar edition also has three ABS modes – Road, Off-road, and Rally – from which riders can choose.
The engine remains unchanged on the Xpulse 200 Dakar edition. It continues to be powered by the same 199.6cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine mated to a five-speed gearbox. The Xpulse 200 Dakar edition also carries forward the dual disc brake setup, 21-18 wire-spoke wheels, and the LCD instrument console.
