New ones have added baffles/cores, has catalytic converter, the added baffle/core decreases the sound, the cat-con increases back pressure thereby increasing low-end torque.
The old ones have nice beat, revs faster, nice pickup but only by a margin.
That's all the differences.
The old style revs faster than the new one with cat-con thereby increasing acceleration.

Yes, old one are available, it is around Rs. 900.
The bike will rev faster, so that acceleration maybe quick by a margin.

Try using rubbing compound. Not sure whether it restores faded paint.
Also try some wax polishes like Formula 1, Waxpol Auto polish, Sonax, etc.

It may not be harmful but the sound will become different and the new model silencer with holes will sound awkward.
I drilled totally 8 holes in my old type silencer and the beat has become thumpy.
I drilled the first core too!

don't use rubbing compound. it removed scratches by erasing small. layers of paint and could actually make more fading. rather try a fresh spray of paint or stickers.

Good to see you here, Mr. Bhvm!
And I am going to put a conical free flow filter in my Splendor.
Already swapped the carburetor jets to that of Discover 135.

Will be changing my Headlight to round headlight (from CD-Dawn). The round headlights have superior beam spread than the flat rectangular ones.
And going in for a 60/50 HL Bulb for better visibility.
