Just googled & got the following information.

Sportster 883 might be India’s lowest priced Harley

The company would launch bikes whose price tag would range from Rs 4 – 14 lakhs via the CBU route (which will see 60% import duty) by the end of 2009.

Subsequently, it may consider assembling its low-end Sportster 883 at its proposed Greenfield assembly facility (in a CKD form), although the location has not yet been finalized.

i still believe, there are many takers for harley even through CBU route.Yes its for highway cruising which harley is at best but for biking enthusiastics it wel may be something to dream of, we do see indian harley enfield still selling around cause it has its own charm and charisma to drive or own.

The US based heavyweight motorcycles major Harley-Davidson today launched its motorcycles market in India. As a part of the plan, the US major introduced five models in the price range of 12 – 14 lakhs.The models are Fat Boy, Night Rod Special, one in the 883 cc category named Roadster and the other one is the customized model currently named as Legend Harley .The models will be available to rule the Indian streets from next year.

Harley Davidson begins dealer selection in Mumbai

Harley-Davidson India is looking for partners. Harley has announced that they will initiate the selection process for dealerships in Maharashtra, seeking interested parties from Mumbai.

Punjab, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi are right on top of HD's 2010 plans. However, if you are keen on becoming an HD dealer you could convince them to open shop in your city too!

As part of the selection process,Harley-Davison will also hold dealership camps in Mumbai on October 19th and 20th, 2009 which will give the interested applicants an opportunity to meet with Harley-Davidson’s representatives to guide the applicants through the requirements for opening Harley-Davidson dealerships in the region.
