With back to back TD of the diesel, my cousin finally ended up booking Freestyle Diesel Trend version. He wasn't happy about the braking in the Tit+ model; however found the braking in Trend to be far better. Ford should do something about braking on the Diesel versions. He is going in for after market momo alloys with 195 section tyres.
Here is my useful wish list for this little monster if Ford is planning a facelift:-
1. Cruise control
2. Improved braking in the diesel version
3. Better Lighting with projector head lamps
4. Slightly better built than the current version
5. BS 6 compliant Diesel engine!!
I will exchange my petrol and then buy the diesel version immediately!!!
I didnt face any issues as such with braking performance while test driving Freestyle diesel, I felt that both have different ABS tune and different braking feel, the lighter front end of petrol might be the reason for this, that said, both stopped in time and both diesel and petrol felt had strong brakes that can be associated with best in industry.
Havent drivem Trend, so not sure whats different with Trend models braking, maybe heavier non alloy wheels giving better brake feel, dont know about that,
Regarding the features as we have discussed I feel, Ford has taken a minimalistic but SAFE approach, like safety in form of ABS, Airbags,ESC,TCS, were of highest priority, also suspension is something we are just neglecting like any other brand can do this, but do note that Fords suspension tuning and steering feel, etc are what makes it different from the rest of the pack. A person blindfolded and taking drive of Suzuki,Hyundai,Honda, etc all feel the same but Ford has little bit more spice and enguaging feel to it, that demands some price na..a lot tend to forget this trait.
The Global Fiesta is one of the best FWD machine on earth, but nobody valued it in that sense because majority of India wanted arm rests, back seat space, soft touch plastics, etc more than what that car offered, I have 2 Global Fiestas in my family, one having crossed 1.4 lakh kms now and other at 60k kms, both are still superb to drive, few machines come close to what Ford offers in that aspect, and yet Fords are generally less expensive to maintain and buy than competitors.
So even after driving my Figo Mk I without rear door power windows, a mediocre 1.2 Rocam petrol engine, and a ground clearance that is low and some issues here and there, I still feel my 4.54 lakhs spent on Figo is damn worth than spending on some Suzuki or Honda or Hyundai with more flashy features, because the feel, the driving fun this thing has is in an another league which most Suzuki,Honda,Hyundai, etc drivers wont understand.
