Hi Everyone

I have a FORD FIGO TDCI diesel vehicle owned in 2015. Noticed recently that the boot opening button(near steering) is not working. Few of the online videos suggest to check relay/fuse, electrical wiring and actuator.

First thing to know is how do we find out which fuse/relay is related to the boot opening button? Ford manual lists out all the fuses and it's function but does not tell which one it is for boot opening.

Appreciate if anyone can help in this regard.

I am attaching the passanger compartment fuses from the vehicle for reference. See if this helps to know.

Hi,
The Figo is based on the Fiesta. Only have experience of the UK Fiesta. The boot lid release uses the same fuse as the power door/central locking. Fuse F24 20amp.
If your central locking works it is unlikely to be the fuse or BCM.
Does the boot lid open using the remote key entry fob ?
On the Fiesta the boot won't open from the switch if the doors are locked.
Check for power and ground at the boot release button, repeat for the boot lid actuator. The release button gets power from the BCM and then just grounds it when you press the button. Same story at the actuator end, it has its own dedicated grounding circuit.
Ideally borrow a Ford EDIS scan tool to read the BCM codes and run activation tests on the circuit.

Thanks @Redex for your reply.

I have checked working of fuse 23 and 24, they are fine.

And by manually putting the key near the boot will help open .
What doesn't work is the key press remotely and pressing button near the driver steering wheel.
And worth to note is, when pressed to open the boot via key double press and boot open button near driver seat, doesn't give any sound near the boot. Can this be a symptom of no signal passing to the boot for actuator to work!!

Where do you think the issue could be considering the fuse are intact and continuity is there in multimeter.[/QUOTE]

Hi,
This is a fairly common fault. Most failures are a faulty boot release/actuator solenoid.
Remove the actuator.
Test by connecting the 2 pins in the actuator socket to a 12 volt supply.
The latch should fully retract compressing the spring completely.
If it does not work smoothly and fully, you need to replace the assembly.
(Assuming you have checked for power and ground at the solenoid wiring plug).
