Frds I was planning to take Ecopsort in the recent price cut. Found the AT Value for money. Drive was good but I could distinctly make out the gear shifts. However it was good drive nevertheless.AT gear box is good though. Also I happen to read that Ford is seriously planning to upgrade the Eco sport. I believe the test mule was already spotted in the USA. Do you think it would be good idea to wait? but I am sure once the upgrade is launched, it would be launched at premium price.

I wont suggest Ecosport or any Ford DCT AT since a lot has complained about the Getrag DCT of Fiestas,Focuses etc failing within 2 -3 years of ownership, although Ford says 10 year warranty for the gearbox its not entirely true, hence if someone gets into trouble, one will be forced to sell car rather than changing gear box, so I say stay away from Fords DCT products as long as they are proved reliable,

Hi welcome to TAI, the problem you mentioned on your TD is called the rubber band effect, which is quite prone especially if you have been driving a MT all the while, but the Ecosport AT being DCT it will be much smoother.

Can you please quote the price breakup, and discount/freebies offered.

Thanks

Vinod

Thanks Vinod, I am staying in Pune . The On Road price for the AT version quoted to me by the dealer is 11,16,202/- . Further he is offering me 5000 Rs Corporate discount.

In 2014, due to DCT shudder problem, Ford extended warranty in Australia:

Ford Focus, Fiesta, EcoSport warranties extended over dual-clutch transmission shudder

I could also see lots of weblinks on Ford DCT issues in USA. Hopefully the problem is solved now.

In any case for DCT/AT buyers, I would recommend to buy 5 Year Extended Warranty (three years on top of standard 2 years) which Ford offers during vehicle purchase:

Extended Warranty | Ford India

1989rs500,

Thanks for inputs on DCT.

TATA Nexon is one year away? One can't wait till then if in the market already for purchase.

Is the EcoSport's diesel actual ground clearance only 160 mm as claimed here:
Or is it only for export version to Europe.

"Don’t worry, though, the Ford EcoSport still comes with a whopping ground clearance of (inches) 190 mm. If you skip the gasoline units and opt for the 1.5-liter diesel version, the engine’s oil pan will lower that to a still-decent 160 mm."

See dont get me wrong, Fords Getrag DCT is complaint prone, buy it at ones own risk, even here in India the DCT has shown issues thats despite AT being sold in very few numbers, so I would say stay away from Fords DCT, the DCT150 in Figo and Aspire seems to be fine but DCT200 in Ecosport,global Fiesta of India,Ford Focus, etc have lot of issues, of clutch wear and shudder etc, so its best to avoid something thats troublesome right,
Figo and Aspire DCT should be fine I guess but Ecosport and Fiesta its a hot or miss game, so its better we avoid it,
The Tata Nexon AMT is coming soon, sure it wont be better than a DCT but Nexon AMT could be the best AT compact SUV

The new Ford Ecosport interior and the exterior is 99% like this
If Ford brings this new Ecosport by 2017 Q1,I am sure Ford will be able to put Brezza in chains, the interior feels far more plush and superb compared to Brezza, Nexon still has some drama going on with it, still fantastic interior design by Ford, definitely one of the best interior in 8-12 lakhs on road priced vehicle

Thanks for posting this. Looks awesome. The front grille resembles the bold ford endeavour. Gonna be serious threat to Brezza now. I have heard that 3.5 inch LYNC system would be having coloured interface and would be enabled with GPS. That would be good

The base trims like shown in the above pic wont sport SYNC 3
The higher trims will have a 8" lcd capacitive touch screen with SYNC 3
I think Titanium and Titanium+ will get SYNC 3,
Ambient and Trend will have the interior shown above with just a cd player,aux in,usb as standard,

The prices of Titanium and Titanium+ might increase by around 30k, still looks smart,
Sad thing is Ford might still use the Getrag DCT 6 speed , I wish Ford put some other AT rather than Getrag DCT, AT CSUV buyers are increasing day by day.

I had a few months dilemma on whether to book Ecosport AT or wait for a year. Finally decided to take the plunge and booked a Ecosport TDCi Titanium+ today, after finding very low volume for AT in India & potential service issues with DCT.

I will miss the ESP feature I wished a lot from AT. Hopefully I could drive safe enough without ESP. In Europe, Ford does offer ESP with Diesel Ecosport. I wish they do that here too.

Thanks for the wonderful discussions in this forum, which helped me narrow the choices.

BTW, Ford has had an excellent quarter in Europe selling 50% more year on year:

Ford’s drive to increase its SUV sales continued in the first quarter, with the EcoSport compact SUV selling 14,600 units – a 50 percent improvement year-over-year.

Though the production will move to Romania by end-2017, it is still being made in India for Europe. Seems the last year Ecosport updates for Europe has found flavor.

@safetyfirst
Congradulations on your new Ecosport Titanium +TDCI
And Fords European sales spike is mainly due to VWs scandal followed by refreshed Exosports lack of spare whewl, Ford is still 5th best seller in Europe, they can do much better but they are primarily focusing on performance cars like Focus RS,Ford GT,Ford Mustang etc for Europe for 2017,2018 so sales wont surge like crazy,

@suvking
If time is an option wait for 2017 Ecosport, seems like 2017 Ecosport is a major update much morw than what Ford has done to the 2015 Ecosport, it could probably be a very advanced vehicle much more advanced than even sedans in that segment, so if time is plenty I thinking waiting will pay off well.

Thanks 1989, yes I was planning to wait. I always liked Ford engines. so would be worth a wait, but Duster really seems enticing

I completely agree with 1989rs500. I have gone through the pains of DCT issues, two times clutch pack replacements and finally transmission replacement for my all new fiesta. In last one year, car was in service station for 3 months for repairs. Even if we have warranty do we want to spend our time on fixing car transmission issues, numerous emotional discussions with dealers on top of our busy life. I am holding back myself not to venture in to buying Ecosport again even though as a package it is tempting. Just today I had a chance to test drive aspire AT. Car was run for 6000Kms and it had prominent shuddering and jerks I experienced in my car. When I asked sales person he said it is test drive car sir. I could not buy that argument as I believe however you drive transmission should not develop issues. I don't know why FORD is trying to create bad reputation for themselves. I have not seen many DCT cars completing 70 or 80K kms without replacing clutch packs etc. In some cases even after replacing transmission, issues were not going away. On the other hand my i10 auto is predictable and running fine even after 70K kms.

Duster is a smart choice, specially the 85 PS RXZ variant felt relly nice, the 100 PS had some turbo lag, but 85 ps felt more than adequate for most situations,
@Autokrish
The trouble is Ford and Volvo made a pact with Getrag who makes DCT for even Ferraris, and the pact is till 2020 and Ford cannot simply cut the terms and conditions agreed inbetween, thats why they got trapprd and Getrag still makes great transmissions and some of their transmissions still far superior to Audi and BMW ZF as well, yet somehow their low scale transmissions like DCT150,200,250 are junk, their wet clutch units are fine, but wet clutch DCTs have 0 issues and its highly expensive compared to dry ones, so Ford is still using DCT the dry ones les expensive units to make it accessible to customers,
But as Autokrish has already claimed the DCT of Ford is utterly unreliable.
