torture test!!!!!
32km ride with seven people on-board tested on wreckless roads of kerala..
myself behind wheel 70kg.mrs. on passenger seat 50kg.
my mother,her siter(my aunt) and two of her friends from nieghbour with a 15 year old on rear seat (65x3 +45=240kg).
total 360kg of weight.
mileage achieved per display 16.8kmpl
now it showed what does 90 hp diesal mean.
i never did felt that engine is loaded it was running as usual- freely revving . there was no or negligbible amount of drag with 7 persons. at slopes it demanded bit extra gear shift but nowhere out of breath .
the ride was well composed and hard footed. suspensions worked stupendously great potholes and uneveness of roads were smothered very well .
at railway crossing the front bumper/bottom scraped slightly ( thanks fiat for better gc)
bodyrolls showed but was in control and not scary (maybe at higher speed it wouldbe difficult).
steering was as usual .
ac was chilling, ladies complained that they were shivering and may probably die of cold.
speed 50-60kmh,maximumspeed-70kmh
i asked twice are "you all feeling suffocated or cramped?"- they said no" we are comfortable here " ( thanks to god, he created women shorter than men)
maybe they are right as i never felt rear seats were cramped . my dad is 5'10ft and when i asked him he " it is not roomy as previous vista but its ok i can move my legs freely and ingress/egress is easy". mom and mrs. say "it is perfectly comfortable at rear "
my feelings:- punto is designed for two seater with the rear seat just an added luxury or space filler. probably considering enthusiast angles for perfomance upgrade.
boot space is more than enough and with seat folded its all boot behind the driver seat ....great!!!!.

Buddy, with all due respect, have you felt that your posts reeks of fanboyism towards Punto & strong bias towards FIAT? Every individual loves his car but such strong unrealistic posts has been seen only in this thread. I appreciate the fact that you love our car so much, you treat her like your baby, but try to post some realistic comment about your baby too. If you feel i am wrong or offending in any way, I am sorry. Please ignore.

I agree with Raj. 7 people can't be comfortable.
4 adult+ 1 child can be sitted with comfort. 5 adults can manage.
90 HP would be quite capable for 360 KG load though.

if 9 people can fit in m800 and 12 people in lancer but comfortable diffidently not . i can't say whether 7 people can sit on punto or not but for me this car was too small might be because of santro . they might be trying to say ok we are comfortable little bit but not that much .

One reason could be because of high roof of Santro.

probably raj has some kind of grudge on me else he would have read complete post and replied thoughtfully.
as far as the way i am,i would always give out optimistic points in any car i drive. and definitely never overlook its flaws or negative sides.
there is no un-realism in the answers given by ladies behind . anybody can understand that they might have adjusted to maximum to accommodate in it.
raj said as if either i myself lied or those people behind were lying .
but what i have learnt is in a middle class family like mine , even in most difficult situations such answers "we are comfortable" is not unrealistic.
thankfully for them they were not troubled or in pain , but yes they were tightly seated with some improvisations .
i did not say five 6feet gentlemen got inside and appreciated .
its little bit intentional from my part to keep these posts humanly and emotional rather than strictly technical and complying to specs.
regarding fanboyism - there is nothing towards fiat and i dont have have fanboy kind attitude at all. this ,punto is definitely a good package until now and i appreciate it.
i do not consider it like a baby either. to me car is like freedom. freedom to travel , freedom to run away, freedom to chase,freedom to move on.
similar baby thingies came from my friends when i owned vista. but they haven't recovered from the shock yet when they learnt that i sold it and bought punto.
only one hatchback which comes equivalent to fiat cars face to face is Peugeot cars they are not in india yet. i would love to appreciate them too. tight built and good response definitly gives you better confidence.
else we have to pay 10 lac plus to see some light.
in india , if not fiat the quality cars starts from skoda only-i think so (yet to see how volkswagon is)!!
ps:i always say glass is half full rather than saying half empty.

women folks were 5~5.2ft.
so generally wont complain much about leg room nor headroom. i thought reading through the post it would be guessed the answer "comfortable" was just a convincing one.
that is why i mentioned as "my feeling" in bottom, fiat designed this car primarily as two seater . i myself do not like much to sit at rear seat of punto ,though it is not cramped but neither very comfortable either, just alright for three medium sized persons.
but i have seen many people complaining punto rear seat is worst compared to any other car in segment i dont know why did they said so.
anyway 8 was just great

i do agree with this point to an extend that, after using two car since last one year having fiat multijet engines, yes i did develop a kind of respect towards fiat team .
you may call it fanboyism or bias or whatever .
what i realized is fiat is doing a commendable job in this field and everybody did appreciate that.then why shouldn't i join them.
this fiat engine has become india's most common diesel engine presently , with good fuel efficiency,power and economy.
in punto with an addition of vgt it has ever better refinements with better fe , more power and improved bhp/ton ratio .
so why shouldn't i share with you all in an optimistic way.

five 5 ft tall ladies cannot be comfortable in the back seat of a punto is all what i said. even four is a squeeze. three can sit comfortably.
