BHEL to Set up Solar-Based Electric Vehicle Charging Stations on Delhi-Chandigarh Highway

State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) said it will set up a network of solar-based electric vehicle chargers (SEVC) on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway. "The establishment of EV chargers at regular intervals over the entire 250 km stretch between Delhi and Chandigarh would allay range-anxiety among the electric vehicle users and bolster their confidence for inter-city travel," the company said in a statement.

Hyundai to manufacture electric cars in India – Invests Rs 7,000 crores

In what is a significant step in foraying into electric vehicle segment, Hyundai Motors is set to invest Rs 7,000 cr in its Sriperumpudur facility near Chennai to expand the production capacity. The company is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Tamil Nadu related to its new investment at the global investors meet next week.

With effects of climate change being felt the world over, industries are going back to the drawing board to make their operations more environment friendly. The automotive industry in particular is expected to take the lead for providing sustainable mobility solutions. Globally, many automobile markets are witnessing a steep demand growth for Electric Vehicles on the back of lowering technology costs, supportive governmental policies and stringent emission regulations. Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce new hybrid vehicles in India and these new products will be developed with technical support from Toyota. The company has already introduced Smart Hybrid Technology in selected models and this has helped them to improve efficiency. We can expect more models to come with dedicated full hybrid technology soon.

Tata Motors Begins Supply Of 40 Electric Buses To Lucknow City Transport Services

Tata Motors had commenced the supply of 40 electric buses to the Lucknow City Transport Services Ltd. (LCTSL). The automaker will be supplying the Ultra 9m AC Electric buses to the city in a phased manner over the next four months. The order is part of the 255 e-buses that will be supplied to six STUs in the country. The first Ultra 9/9m AC Electric bus was flagged off in Lucknow by the Minister of Urban Development, Suresh Kumar Khanna. The electric bus will begin its journey from Alambagh depot in Lucknow. The e-buses have been developed indigenously by the company and are built on an all-new modular platform that was developed in a period of less than a year.

I wonder how they are planning to charge these buses. There is no Mention of Solar Charging station for these.

Since the EV concept at this year’s show will be influenced by the EVision sedan, the rumoured electric version of the 45X takes the centre stage of the conversation.

It could use the same battery pack as the EVision and have fast charging facility while the clutter-free interior and futuristic exterior could take heavy inspiration from the EVision. More details about the concept is expected to be known in the coming days. The Harrier already commands a waiting period of more than three months and it will be displayed in Geneva as part of the brand’s global push to increase volumes.

Govt issues new guidelines; wants charging stations for electric vehicles every 25 km

The government has issued a set of guidelines to set up charging stations for electric vehicles across the country, outlining ways to build such fuelling points every 25 km, an official statement said Friday.

According to the Union Housing an Urban Affairs Ministry, the governmentexpects 25 percent of the total vehicles on roads will be electric vehicles by 2030, necessitating to erect robust electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the country.

Your electric vehicle dream may get a Rs 50,000 jump-start

The government is planning to incentivise the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs) with rebates of up to Rs 50,000, bringing them under the umbrella of priority sector lending and lowering interest rates on loans, said an official with knowledge of the matter.

The move is part of the government’s bid to promote the manufacture and sale of EVs in India so that they eventually comprise 15% of total sales from the current negligible share in the next five years.

Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the all-new WagonR EV in the Indian market. To understand the Indian road conditions better and how they affect the performance of the Electric Vehicles, Maruti Suzuki started testing 50 units of WagonR EV in the market last year. The WagonR EV hatchbacks on the test are not Indian-spec, but Maruti Suzuki will develop the Indian vehicle from the data and feedback they get from the test cars.

25 e-vehicle charging stations set up in Delhi; to open in March

NEW DELHI: In a big push to the Centre’s ambitious plan to switch to electric vehicles by 2030, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has initiated a process to establish electric vehicle charging stations for the public.

The civic agency has already installed 25 charging stations at multiple locations across Lutyens’ Delhi, including CP, Gole Market, Jor Bagh, Sarojini Nagar Market and Yashwant Place. These will be open to the public by the first week of March.

Big push to EV: Govt approves Rs 10,000 crore FAME II scheme

The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for implementation of second phase of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles (FAME-II) in India, finance minister Arun Jaitely said on Thursday.

With an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore, the scheme will come into effect from 1st April 2019 for a period of three years.
