LED fog lamps. 51 LEDs per side. Dropped after seeing all kinds of weird white LED strips out on cars as eyebrows to even the most unimaginable stuffs. ended in prototype stage itself.

Home-made under body light

Mark 1 - spoiled by MAruti ASS

Mark 2 - stopped for upgrading.

Mark-3 - Prototyping done. Used three times the number of LEDs used in Mark 2. got aluminium foil reflectors and plexyglass waterproof covers. Ditched this project after neon tubes became common and all taxiwalas started sporting weird ways of underbody lightings.

Mark-4 - Under construction. Spotting kind. 5 each side and 3 in front and rear. Improved design and packaging. better than mark 1. hoping to finish this month.

Hey deville, nice job mate.

i would like to see the LED strips effect on ground closely, like keeping them at the height of cars under body level & seeing the effect on ground. The thing why i hate LED under car lights is because the light doesn't appear well distributed,it shows dark spot just below the LED & fades & again the dark spot & continues.I hope you get what i am trying to say.
But i hope you have over come this as you have used more no of LED's & reflective material.

Would also like to see the wiring diagram & connection etc as i am really looking forward to try this myself.[:)]

single row can make the spot. Closely packed double row elimiated the spottin issue, but aligning the LED's in straight line is big headache. I had 160 LED in one side. Aluminium foil was used as reflector. Base is flat conduit pipe used for electrical wiring.

Regarding for any color other than white and blue connect connect four LED and one resistor in series and then connect all thethe units of 4 leds in parallel. put a 2 amp fuse and switch in between and connect to power source.

For blue and white connect three in series with a resistor.

For red, resitor value is 100 ohm.

Hey its really cool job!

How much does this cost for you ?
For fog lamp [driving light]

LED - 51x2 x Rs. 1.5 = 127.5

PCB - Rs. 40.

Resistor - 68 x Rs. 0.5 - 34

2 small bowls [for base] = 2 x 15 = Rs. 30

round cut plexi glass for cover = Rs 20.

horn clamp for making custom mounting - Rs. 12

Wire, fuse, and switch - Rs. 35.

Total - 298.5

Regarding spot underbody.

LED [red] - 4 [LED per unit] x 16 [units - 5 each side and 3 each front nd back ] x Re.1 = Rs. 64

Resistor - 16 x Rs. 0.5 = Rs. 8

PCB = Rs. 20.

Wire, switch, resistor, fuse, 3M double-sided tape = Rs. 100.

total = Rs. 192

LED strips [not VFM from DIY standpoint]

LED [160 per side, 100 each front and back] = Rs 520

Resistor - Rs 130.

Conduit pipe [3 tubes - one each side and half each for front and rear] = 3 x 60 = Rs. 180

Aluminium foil for reflector = Rs. 50.

Wiring and mounting = Rs. 200.

Plexiglass for cover = Rs. 150.

Total - Rs. 1230.

sure.

I'm making new set of spot type. Almost done now. just gotta put them in enclosure and fix them.

There is not much difference in readymade Chineese stuff over places.

White costs between 1.5 to 2.5 depending on the number you take.

Red costs 80 paise to 1.20.

Funniest part all shops here get stuff from Mumbai [:D] where it cost 5 rs.

That led strip is a nice concept.
I did try on dhilip's advice. It was great.
But didn't take any snaps. now its removed.

roughly it cost rs 15/- for one strip.
1rs per led. i used 50 on one side.
Wires for 30/-
Mine was a blue one. It was just glowing blue in my car.
i stick to underbody with fevistick.
A month later it fell down, but was hanging in wires , i stopped and cut it and put it in dicky. Its still lying there.

Hi , do u have the circuit diagram for the fog lamps?
Is it bright enough like a regular halogen fog lamp?
Do u have circuit designs for a dual intensity stop-tail lamp?
Please help guys. My car mods are badly waiting for these.[:)]

For fogs connect white LEDs in group of three and connect a resistor in series and connect all set of threes in parallel. done.

First tightly pack as possible

then connect in series of 3.

leads covered with white sleeves are negative terminals connected together.

Regarding dual intensity for brake lamps, there are two ideas.

1. seperate set of leds for park and seperate for brakes. park can be arranged in round angel eye setup. connect set for brake directly to brake light connection and park directly to park connection. then connect park ones via diode to brake light connection so that all leds will glow when park is off.

2. make set of leds. connect all negatives together. then use two sets of resistor and diode per set. lower value for brake and higher for park. diode should be connected for isolating each circuit. they will act as OR gate.

connection will be
park light connection>high value resistor>diode>'+' terminal of the LED
brake light connection>lower value resistor>'DIODE'+ '+' terminal of the LED

with high resistance intensity of the LED will be low and with lower ones intensity will be high.

Since red LEDs are used they should be connected in group of 4s.

Hope you got some idea.[:D]
