SAFETY FIRST (Disclaimer):
Please don’t attempt do this DIY if you are not aware of safety factors that need to be ensured while handling auto electrical. Nevertheless, this guide would be useful to ensure near perfection while you seek a professional help, in case if you’re interested!

We had been to OOTY, the queen of hill station recently. On our return during late evening, we noticed that the dashboard idol on the TOYOTA INNOVA CRYSTA Cab was reflecting a subtle glow that really pleased us very much. It was so peaceful and divine to notice amidst an ambience of tranquility.[:)]

I came to know from the Cab Owner cum Driver that he did it in a local automobile shop, added a small single blue led bulb using 12 V DC to 5V DC USB converter by bringing the wire through Dashboard, to the idol by creating a hole.[frustration]

I just thought why shouldn't I try for my IGNIS!
Of course, it must be professional and a neat DIY.

And, to be ensured:
1. No drilling or damage to dashboard
2. Professional wiring, taking care of all precautions- wire gauge and fuse etc.,
3. Should look hidden, neat and beautiful.
4. Non distracting, very subtle illumination.
5. Provide Control On / Off switch ( As not required during day time)

Started thinking various designs, structures & combination….[think]
Finally, I did this and very much satisfied.[:D]

DIY:
Organised the following:
1. Housing for Focusing the bulb
2. T10 LED Bulb for Subtle glow (Blue) (1 -3W@12V)
3. Flexible good quality shielded cable

1. Selected this POINTER from Amazon India, unscrewed top and bottom lids. Removed from top, the plastic translucent light filter in the front hole; removed the laser unit from the aluminum shell, along with its wires from the flexible metal spring tail, after cutting out / removing the USB pin.

2. Measured the distance from RVM to steering side switch control, cut the shielded USB wire (Had an unused spare given along with my Dash Cam for direct USB connection) at both ends with sufficient length to make it to come through A Pillar.

3. Prepared the cable to get the two thin wires (Red & Black) through spring tail to reach inside the Aluminum shell.

4. The Led Bulb purchased from Amazon was soldered at its terminal clips after checking positive and negative side to red and black wires. Insulated the bulb terminals carefully as it's going to get inside aluminum shell. (Better to use T10 Bulb Adopter if possible)

5. Checked the illumination by connecting the other end of the cable to 12V DC. Ensured it’s fine.

6. Inserted the Pointer's cable through car roof lining/ceiling pad, Fixed the Pointer focused to idol, fixed near to Dash Cam and ensured that it does not interfere the Dash cam’s field.

7. Took the other end through ‘A Pillar’ as did to Dash Cam connection. Connected the right terminals to Ambient / Footwell lights switch.

8. To me, Footwell lights On/Off switch is the safe and better option as I did earlier taking into all safety considerations via fuse adopter. (Read Here)

9. Waited till late evening for little darkness, adjusted the focus over idol spot. Task completed.

10. It created a mesmerizing ambience along with footwell lights. It's very subtle, non-distracting, soft and beautiful!
Loved it !
