Delhi - Udaipur: Trip To City of Lakes

We went there as well and dude that's one amazon fort but not maintained well now. And that incline path all the way to the fort, one will definity loose a kilo.

But the road to the fort is just amazing and what wonderful views man, It was total mesmerizing.

That's my cousins Ritz and yes it did had kinda hard time to keep up with Draco's pace but its one hell of a car and can do good speeds for a long time.

nice to see your efforts for letting us enjoy your excellent trip.exhaustive write up and decent pics made me very nostalgic. that's what I call quality threads.
for the kumbhalgadh, we made spot decision that noon to stay a night there, the light effects bring out the best of that fort!

and yes I've seen a YouTube video about someone doing 210 in 500!!. maybe after oil change mine shall improve.

I usually don't do or promote high speeds. But just wanted to check out my DRACO limits. Hence 170 which was only for couple of minutes. And NH 8 after Jaipur is just amazing, three lanes and you have very good visibility of the road for quite a good distance.

Actually Jaipur - Gurgaon is still under construction and lot of flyovers are in progress and secondly that patch has loads of trucks. I mean endless.

And if you cross that area after 9 pm it will be nothing less than a nightmare.

So guys please avoid that patch during or around 9 pm.


And guys I am not home had to come Delhi for some work hence not able to complete my TL. Will be back home tomorrow and post the remaining pics and review.

Sajjan Garh Fort/ Monsoon Palace

History:
Sajjan Garh Fort was built by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884 hence called Sajjan Garh Fort.. This fort is built on a hilltop which offers a wonderful view of the Udaipur city, lake Pichola and Fateh Sagar lake.
There were two main reasons for building this fort:
1. To watch the monsoon clouds therefore it is also known as Monsoon Palace.
2. Also to get a view of their ancestral home in Chittorgarh - Chittorgarh Fort. And guess what the distance between both the forts by road is 130 kms.

Basically there is not much to see in this Fort but the panoramic view from the fort are just beautiful and YES if you visit this Fort during evening than you can see a beautiful sunset.
The drive to this Fort has a lot of hair pin turns. So it can be a good exercise for someone who hasn't driven on hills.
The charges are as following:
Per Person: 5/-
Per vehicle: 20/-

Kumbhalgarh Fort

History:
It was built by Rana Kumbha and the construction began in 1443. Also this is the birth place of Maharana Pratap. The front walls of this fort are 15 feet thick and the perimeter walls of this fort extend upto 36kms. This fort is also built on a hilltop which is 3600 ft above the sea level.

Some more facts:
Kumbhalgarh fort is surrounded by a majestic thick wall which is approximately 15 KMS long. It has seven huge gates and claims to be the second longest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China. The width of wall varies from 15 to 25 feet. It is mentioned in the various books of history that eight horses could run on this wall side-by-side. This wall runs through surrounding mountain cliffs of the Aravali range. The wall is a great example of architecture brilliance of Rajput Era. Its architectural brilliance is proved by the fact that in spite of being around 700 years old it is still intact and in a very good shape. This wall is not in a regular straight pattern but it runs through mountain cliffs and valleys. It has steep ascend and descend throughout its length the wall has stairs and walk way which is evident from the photographs. The wall runs through the forest area which falls under Kumbhalgarh National Park. This national park is abode of great variety of flora and fauna. It provides shelter to number of endangered species of Indian wild-life. It is famous for panthers and leopards. Other wild life in this national park is Hyena, Toddy cats, Wolf, Chansinga, Neelgai, Sambhars, Crocodiles, Grey Jungle fowl, Peacocks, Wild boars, Beers etc.
