Sorry to hear about your trouble with your new ride. Sometimes few car will have some sort of problems, especially related to electrical[PCB,relay, fuse, ground etc.]. By my best knowledge what Ford or any other automotive manufacture will either offer you a new car with additional price by taking your old one or they'll replace entire electrical system in your presence.

Once few year ago HC ordered BMW to replace a customer's BMW 530d[2012] with a new one [530d 2015] for free since the customer got a lemon at start. The case took at least 1.5yrs to reach conclusion. So, unless they get a letter/order from consumer court manufacturers are not likely to replace your car with a new one without additional charge.

Work has been done by the service center and it would come home today. I would like to record the positives and negatives of the outcome.

Positives:

1)All the relays were replaced under warranty so as to be precautionary. I was informed there were a total of 12 relays in the New Figo.

2)3rd year warranty was provided as a good will gesture.

3)The bumper was painted FOC. There was a slight scrap on the bumper while it was loaded on the tow vehicle during the 1st and 3rd breakdown.

Negatives:

1)I had asked for a new car replacement since there were multiple breakdowns. I was informed that new car replacement was not possible. So I asked for a 5 year warranty but they provided 3rd year extended warranty.

2)The cause of 1st breakdown is not yet identified. I don't know when the issue will repeat again.

3)I was informed that the cause of relay problem was due to ants present in the relay. I am not ready to believe their story. There are two other cars in our garage and there has been no such issue. Secondly even if there were ants in the engine bay how come the fuel supply or starter relay(don't know exactly) is constantly being the cause of issue.

4)They took 1 week to return the car which I think is a long time.

5)I didn't any response from Mr.Anurag Mehrotra for my e-mail.

Future prospect:
I am still to get full confidence back on the car again. It would take some time to get the lost confidence. Till then, the other cars in our garage will be used when going out with the family. If there are any new serious issues or breakdowns and I am not given a new car replacement, I have decided to go the legal route. I am hoping such a situation would not occur. One thing is for sure I would not buy a Ford product again or recommend it to anyone.

Pl avoid Ford Figo already. I am so disappointed that writing something about the issues further disappoints me.
Agree mate. They are lowest level in customer service.

GM level guy acting like a Goon reflects on work culture

Another irritating update:

1)I had traveled 30 kms and stopped at a place. After finishing the work, the car refused to start. I thought the dreaded issue had come back again. But the issue was a bit different this time. In the previous occasions the car would not even respond but now the engine was spinning on cranking but it didn't start. After 2-3 cranks it started and I thought I would reach home and then contact the Ford ASS.

2)While returning home the vehicle shut down while driving(Imagine my shock!!!) and started by itself within 1.5 seconds and I continued driving as I was nearby our home.

3)Finally the vehicle stopped and refused to start. I called the Road Side Assistance and initiated the towing process.

This is the 4th break down and the 3rd for the starting issue. It is very annoying and it is outright dangerous as the vehicle shut down while driving. What options do I have?? I am looking to go the legal route if the company refuses for a vehicle replacement. Members kindly give your ideas.

I am seriously doubting if Ford cars in India are manufactured to sub-standard qualities, considering the number of issues like oil leaks, left pulling issue, etc

Hi Anush,
I can very well understand the trauma you are going through. We buy a new car to have a hassle free drive but in your case its the other way round. I have gone through this kind of problem with my car which was bought new in 2007 & the vehicle use to loose power & emit white smoke. The ASS & manufacturer's engineer were clueless as to why this was happening even after giving my car multiple times for rectification.
At the end I got frustrated & send them a legal notice & filed a case in consumer forum where in I won the case & against ASS & Manufacturer. I was awarded compensation for mental trauma, Legal charges, & was given three years extended warranty from the date of rectification of all the faults.
Hope you dont have to go through all this as it takes time.

regards
vdm295.

Got the car back from the service center. The issue was indeed with the ants, they have developed a whole colony in the engine bay. I don't know how this happened as we keep our cars very clean and very rarely eat food stuffs inside. It was a welcome change at the service center, the SA Mr.Jose Prakash at Rajshree Ford, Coimbatore took a great deal of concern and personally cleaned the relays and supervised the engine bay cleaning. He is highly recommended and takes a personal care of cars under him.

When I reached home I could see 2-3 ants near the relay box [frustration][frustration]. I have decided to clean the relays regularly. Any idea how the ants can be driven out completely from the engine bay.

Ants won't leave their home easily nor they forget the path to it. You have to fully clean the area (i.e their foods) and put some ant repellent, odor of kerosene or etc that keeps them away. Next, change the location of car parking for some days.
