Sandeep, seems to be a Jan/March 2014 Maruti. Maruti VIN has 21 characters and the last two ones represent the year and date of manufacture. Could you post the complete 21 characters?

The VIN of my Grand i10 Magna is MALA851CLEM076141*B

From the VIN it is cleared that vehicle is from Feb 2014 batch. Is it Ok to go ahead with 2 months old model ?

Getting a two month old unit is not something one would expect from a hotselling car. Ask salesperson the reason why it's left unsold. Insist for a newer unit if available.

According to SE, Hyundai manufactures cars and keep it in their stockyard (Chennai), now there are alomost 750 autorised hyundai dealers and as per their request the cars are assigned to them. He says that normally these difference is between 1 to 3 months.

So in my case this car was manufactered in Feb 2014 and was in Hyundai yard and in last week it was allotted to dealer and going ahead to me.

Any suggestion from you guys !!

I think dealer is fooling you. there is no reason for Company like Hyundai to keep the car in stock yard for almost 2 months and for the car which is demand it's more strange. So i advice you go to dealers stock yard and check the VIN of other Grand i10's also. if those are also 2,3 months old then take the car or check with other dealer else demand for fresh car.

VIN number for Hyundai cars

I received a VIN number for a new Xcent, it's only 17 characters. The 9th character of the number is supposed to be a validation check (checksum). The number is not matching, it's supposed to be an 8, but it's an L. I searched few other Hyundai VIN numbers also and it appears to be the case with them as well. On the other hand, I came across a Ford car VIN, and the validation character matched.

Wanted to check if Hyundai follows this standard while generating VIN numbers? Or I'm missing something.

By looking at your VIN's 9th character i can only say that your vehicle is RHD and with 5 speed manual transmission.
