I dont have the car yet. Its in stock yard. I have seen people posting the complete details of the car with 17 digit VIN.
I dont want to go to the stock yard cos it will spoil a day for me. Is there any other way. Though I have a mail from the dealer that its dec 2012

only wildon will be able to give you manufacturing date from the 17th digits but he is not active here. It will be best if you can get the 19th digit from the dealer .

@abhimayo, did some research on Google. The month of manufacture for Hyundai cars can be decoded from the chassis number and not VIN.

Chassis number is the same as the VIN Number followed by a * and a letter. This letter is the month of manufacture.
If this letter = A then the manufacture month is Jan, if letter = B then the manufacture month is Feb. Similarly C = Mar, D = Apr, E = May, F = June, G = July, H = Aug, J = Sep, K = Oct, L = Nov, M = Dec.
Pls note that ' I ' is not used.

Please find the vehicle chassis number from your dealer, it should solve your query.

Cheers,
Anshuman

HI Abhimayo, I guess Verna is known as Accent internationally.

Cheers,
Anshuman

It should be Tata Nano 2012, manufactured in Sanand.

Cheers,
Anshuman
Thanks for the same. It is Tata Nano - Nov-2012 make. I had visited the yard to see the vehicle and during PDI I noticed that it had some parts manufactured on 29/10/2012. That made me believe that the vechile is manufactured after Nov-2012 itself.

I am getting the Nano on coming Saturday.

Congrats on the Nano acquisition. Please make a new ownership thread. Which version is the car and what discounts/offers did you get?

Friends, please help me out here. Is there any difference between Chassis number, engine number and VIN for Maruti Ertiga? Are they all the same?

I am planning to buy an Ertiga and the sales guys wont give me the VIN. They will give only chassis and engine numbers. They say they dont know what VIN is! [anger]

So, with the chassis or engine number, will it be possible to get the manufacturing date of the vehicle?

If VIN is indeed there, which document will have it?

Ofcourse Chassis and Engine numbers are two different numbers. For Maruti I think VIN and Chassis numbers are same.

If the Sales guy does not know what is VIN, he deserves to be fired immediately.[:D]

Thanks anshuman for the clarification. I have decided to take the vehicle from another dealer as they are ready to give the VIN number. They also allowed me check the cars in their stock yard and select any. Feel that is the best option to go ahead. Will do a semi PDI, check the manufacturing month and select the car. [clap]
