Made-In-India Renault Kwid For Africa Scores 2 Stars In Global NCAP

Renault Kwid scored only two stars in Global NCAP crash tests for Africa and the structure was rated unstable

In the latest round of crash tests conducted by Global NCAP under the #SaferCarsForAfrica campaign, the Renault Kwid showed encouraging signs of improvement compared to the test results with zero stars back in 2016 of the India-spec version and one star with standard airbag and seatbelt pre-tensioner. With structural improvements, the Brazil manufactured Kwid was tested by Latin NCAP and it achieved three stars.

With the tests conducted at 64 kmph, the CRS was installed with the adult seatbelt rearward facing offering limited protection. The made-in-India Renault Kwid was tested alongside the Steed 5 pickup truck from Great Wall and Haval H1 SUV. The former disappointed with zero stars while the latter managed only two stars as Global NCAP urged the importance of selling safer cars in Africa.

MG ZS SUV Gets 5 Star Safety Rating

In its latest round of crash tests, the ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) has awarded a 5 star safety rating to the 2020 MG ZS SUV. The model, which was manufactured in Thailand, scored a total of 81.00 points 44.82 points in the adult safety protection and 20.90 points in the child occupant safety protection. Its safety assist technologies (SATs) score stood at 15.28 points.

In the frontal offset test, the SUV provided good protection to the occupants and remained stable. It offered marginal and adequate protection to both the occupant’s chests. In the side impact crash test, the ZS SUV provided good protection to the driver’s head, neck and chest area.

that is good to know, but it doesnt mean anything for India as there could be difference of night and day for india specific models and export models.
Take the example of Suzuki, or hyundai cars.
difference right from the thickness of sheet metal to safety features.
Wont be surprise if Nissan or SIAC provides us with all blings but less or no safety feature embedded in the car .

If SIAC or Nissan both on paper claim that the ASEAN car spec is 100% same as indian ones then i am very happy.

Tesla Model Y earns 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA

Tesla’s vehicles have been acing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) crash tests for years, and the Model Y is now the latest to join those ranks, with the midsize SUV scoring five stars in every category that the group tests for crash safety.

NHTSA grades cars on a variety of crash test metrics, including frontal crashes (with subcategories for both the driver and passenger seats), side crashes (for crashes into both a barrier and a pole), and rollover scenarios. The Model Y scores five-star results across the board — although, as with the NHTSA’s previous tests, these results are only for regular, human-piloted scenarios, not Tesla’s self-driving Autopilot mode.

Of course, pictures and star ratings are all well and good, but if you’re more of a visual learner, you can enjoy the video footage of the Tesla SUV smashing into things in soothing slow motion.

The new results mean that the Model Y joins the Model 3, Model X SUV, and Model S in perfect crash test scores. (The Model S was originally granted a 5.4-star rating, before the NHTSA revised its guidelines to get rid of “impossible” scores.)

Made-In-India Suzuki Swift Scores Zero Stars In Latin NCAP Crash Test

The Latin New Car Assessment Programme or Latin NCAP recently crash-tested the Suzuki Swift that is sold in the region, and it has received a Zero-star rating from the safety watchdog. The big highlight here, of course, is the fact that the car tested by Latin NCAP is Made-In-India, at the Japanese carmaker's Suzuki Motor Gujarat manufacturing facility. The car received a 15.53 per cent rating for adult occupant protection, while the same for child occupant protection was 0 per cent. The car surprisingly scored a decent 66 per cent for Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Track Users, the rating again fell to 7 per cent with regards to Security Assistance Systems. We did reach out to Maruti Suzuki India for a comment, however our email remained unanswered.

@Nairrk, Nothing new Sir. Swift has been a poor performer in Crash test in past too. Most of MSIL hatchbacks have been a shame in crash tests for that matter. It is really not understandable as to why is Maruti Suzuki being permitted to sell such tin-cans in the market where brands like Mahindra & Tata are providing 4&5 star rated cars? A failure of Made-in-India product is not only shameful for the brand but a dent for the image of our country too. MoRTH perhaps should come up with a policy of having a minimum of 4 star safety for each vehicle made and sold in India and any vehicle not meeting those standards irrespective of the brand should be junked.

If you see RCB Not the ipl team but the chairman of MSIL, is a shrewd businessman. he knows is business. When car are selling as they are why would he go an extramile for providing safetyfeatures? If people want safety features they will not buy his cars. So he is knows his customer. For his customer, they want niggle free ownership and smart city cars. People dont give weightage for safety so he provides niggle free smart peppy cars.
If you want maruti to provide safe cars, bring down thier sales to mid 5 digit sales or 5 months consecutively, and see how they start selling 4 and 5 stars cars. but will that happen? No. the why will they invest in unnecessary technology which will impact thier bottom line?

Tata Punch Crash Tested; Gets 5-Star Safety Rating From Global NCAP

In what should come as no surprise to many - the Tata Punch has scored 5 Stars from safety rating agency Global NCAP. The micro-SUV was crash tested and has punched way above its weight as it were, to come off with this score for adult occupant protection. The part about it not being a surprise goes to Tata's recent track record, as also the company's stated commitment towards building safer cars. The bit that is going to raise eyebrows? Being able to achieve such scores at the entry end of the market with such a small car - scores that are higher than the Nexon's and Altroz's.

Made-In-India Suzuki Baleno Gets Zero Stars In Latin NCAP Crash Test

The New Car Assessment Programme for Latin America or the Latin NCAP recently crash-tested the Suzuki Baleno, and the premium hatchback has received a disappointing Zero-star rating from the safety watchdog. The big highlight over here is the fact that the Baleno that is sold in the Latin America region is manufactured in India, at the Japanese carmaker's Suzuki Motor Gujarat manufacturing facility, in Ahmadabad. Incidentally, this is the second Made-In-India Suzuki product to receive a zero rating from Latin NCAP in the last two months.

Toyota Yaris Crashed By Latin NCAP; Scores 1 Star

The New Car Assessment Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean, Latin NCAP, released the crash test ratings for the Toyota Yaris today. The Toyota Yaris, produced in Brazil and Thailand, with double airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard achieved one star under Latin NCAPs latest protocol. The Yaris achieved 41.43 per cent in adult occupant safety and 63.85 per cent in Child Occupant safety. In the frontal impact test (unit tested in 2019) the model showed unstable structure and unstable footwell area performance. Side impact showed a door opening during the test. A door opening in Latin NCAP side impact test, which has same configuration as Regulation UN95, means that the car would have failed the UN95 test.

Wow, Toyota going the suzuki way.
Well so far toyota cars were safe, costly, fussfree but boring to drive cars.
Now they have started making unsafe cars which are costly hopefully fuss free but boring to drive cars. Great going by Toyota.
So that begs for question, do Japs dont care for safety of customer or more concerned about profits? Or rather put it this way, Japs are shrewd business people?

2021 Honda Civic bags 5-star crash test rating

The new Honda Civic scored an impressive 29.28 out of 32 possible points in adult occupant protection, with full marks (8 out of 8) being awarded for side impact test. The Civic lost some points in frontal impact test, where it scored 14.54 out of 16, and in head protection technology test, where it scored 6.74 out of 8.

With regards to child occupant protection, the dynamic test, which involves frontal and side impact assessment, yet again saw the Civic score maximum points – 24 out of 24. However, the Civic lost out some points for child seat installation, vehicle based assessment and child presence detection which resulted in an overall score of 46.72 out of 51 points.

Volkswagen Taos Receives 5 Star Rating In Latin NCAP

The results of the latest round of the Latin New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash test are out, and the Volkswagen Taos has scored 5 stars. The watchdog also crash-tested Fiat's Argo (Cronos) and it scored a zero-star rating. The Taos, produced in Argentina and Mexico, with 6 airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard, is the first model to achieve 5 stars under Latin NCAP latest protocols. The compact SUV received a 90.23 per cent rating for adult occupant protection and an 89.80 per cent for child occupant protection. The VW Taos scored a decent 60.61 per cent for Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users and an 85.04 per cent in the Safety Assist score.
