I too was there few days back, with my Manza. I got FE of 18.8 with ac on and off. I had got better economy. But the drive to and from Abbey falls disturbed the figures a lot. There was o lot of rush. We had to literally crawl in and out of the location. As per my experience:
1. Abbey falls was disappointing. I feel it is over rated. Also raod is not good.
2. Dubare forest was good. Kids and we spent lots of time in water. This was first elephant ride for my son and wife. :)
3. Drive to Talacauvery from Madikeri is breathtaking. Nature at its best. Would love to drive to this place again and again.
4. Stay is mostly on the cheaper side. We had planned for outings mostly. So opted for cheapest decent stay. Greens stay is good option. 2 BHK cottage with car park at very good location.in centre of city.

Day-2

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your Comments and wishes. Sorry I was busy in my work so hard that could not find time.

Here are the second day experience...

We woke up with the nice bird sounds and got ready for the breakfast. The breakfast was served on a open area behind our home stay. We started soon after for our second day trip and we knew that it's going to be a hectic day. One driver was provided by our Home stay owner. I told him that I want to drive till mid day and in extreme ghat section he can drive and we can enjoy the nature & places. So first we went to Dubare Elephant camp. Last 100mts from the destination was quite bad road. I was following a innova and hit lightly 2 times on the pot holes. Thankfully controlled immediately. The place is good and by the time we reached the other side of the river by motor boat, all the elephants who were taking bath already left the place.

We could not enjoy with the bathing elephants. The elephants are tied back of one firm just near the river. We took few snaps there as other were doing the same. After 5 mins some guards came and told that elephants are hungry and we should not offer any food to them or they may fight among themselves. Finally we sat for some time there as the place was quite silent and nature was quite good. People are offered with crafting facility for 1KM but I came to know that it's not great as told by our driver/guide. He told in rainy season, they are offering some 8 Kms ride and that's good. So we started from that place and I was very careful while coming for that rough 100 mts road.

Fortunately, I came safe with my beauty. Then we moved to NishargaDhama. This place is aroung 15/20 mins drive from dubare camp. We took the ticket and went inside island. Well it doesn't seem to be a island but still people are saying that way. We crossed a hanging bridge and went inside. A handy craft shop was there where we bought one toy for our punto. The area is full of bamboo trees. We walk a fair distance around the area and finally reached near the river. The place was simply awesome.

I removed by shoe and put my feet inside chill water. WOW!!! We were really enjoying the nature and chill water. After some photo sessions we started to rewind. On the entrance we noticed a small shop which sales some dry foods, chips, cold drinks, water. We only bought water bottle as time was up for lunch. As we came towards KushalNagar for the Dubare camp, we had to go back to Madikeri. This time I was driving a bit fast as I was comfortable with the road and we have to cover few places in just more than half day. We reached Madikeri after 35 mins and took our lunch @ some restaurant. My wife was interested in Fish, hence took Bangda fish fry, chicken 65 and rice and some paneer item. The bill was not so high but the taste was simply superb. Soon our guide told that we have to cover talacauvery around 80 Kms from Madikeri(up and down) and the road is not that good. Hence I gave my keys to him and asked him to drive, believe me I was very reluctant to give my keys. He sensed that he told that do not worry, he will drive carefully.

I just laughed and suddenly felt that I am going to sit in my back seat for the first time. The way he drove my punto, I was shocked and at the same time enjoying the beauty. My punto was running in around 80Km/hr in pure ghat roads. But there is absolutely no feeling that we are moving so fast. I realized why people are saying, this car's build quality is solid. The road to talacauvery was not so good still ok. The real green coorg I have seen on the way to Talacauvery only. We reached BhagaMangala very soon, thanks to the speedy driving. What shocked me most was, not even a single vehicle was there except our punto. I have read many blogs where people say it's a crowdy place, but .. We covered the place quickly and headed towards Talacauvery and reached in 30 mins. As soon as we reached, headed towards the temple and the place from where the cauvery river has originated. Then we saw the steps going upwards. We were tired still we are thinking to go to the top point. At the very moment one person just came down the stairs and told us that once we should try as it's around 200 steps only.

So we started and reached the pick point with empty legs as no chappals allowed inside the temple and afterward. The place was full of stones and hard soil. Our foot was hurting like anything still we were enjoying the look and beauty from the top view. We took a snap of our punto too from the top. Found some wind fans also on the mountains. Then we came down and started our journey towards our Home stay. On the way our driver told he will show us some pick points from where whole Madikeri town will be visible. He took us the place and wow, what a sight it was. Whole Madikeri was looking like full of stars. The scene can't explained. Then another place we went where a picular thing happened. In a distance of 10 meters, both hot and cold we felt. I was unable to believe this but it was happening. We really enjoyed the two undiscovered places. It was cherry on the top for the day. That's how the 2nd long Day Completed.

Day-3

Next day morning we went for a walk in the forest to enjoy nature, greenary and ofcourse coffee plants.

We had our breakfast and started for Bangalore. On the ghat roads we took some snaps as well. Aswe had to reach Bangalore at the earliest, I drove continuously 7 hours and we finally reached Home. Believe me Coorg is place you should visit at least once. The best time is rainy days but other days still you can enjoy.

You drove 7 hours continuously or did you stop alot in between ? Or is it you met heavy traffic in Bangalore on the way to your home?

Your write up shows you were very happy with your trip/vacation & that is how a vacation should be.You mentioned you took a pic of your Punto from top of TalaCauvery it would be nice if you added them in.

Hello TAIn's

I am new to this site. So please excuse if there are any errors.

Actually I am planning a trip to COORG from bangalore on 8th Sept to take my New RITZ VDI (black) for a spin.

Any idea what the condition of the roads ? Has anyone been there recently ? Since its been raining heavily since last few days, not sure what state are they in.

Thanks a lot.
