Worst of Fiat ASS horror stories I have heard is from Punjab and Chandigarh .

Still it is amusing to see there are lot of them over there.
I generally read reviews through "mouthshut" or such internet sources
Here are 2 Tata-Fiat dealers, Joshi-Auto Zone and Hind Motors.
Joshi is one of the best dealers in North India and so is his services,
I don't wana say anything about the other dealer, Thank God he has closed his Tata-Fiat showroom last month and opened a Nissan's. Bad thing for Nissan customers though. :P
Whenever I visit Joshi's, I always see 2/3 Puntos ready for their delivery. [:)]
:offtopic: I guess you see lots of Fiats in these areas as people here love to go for bling. During my stay in Chandigarh for instance, I had to look really hard to find one car that was not fitted with alloy wheels. And one thig one cannot doubt is that the Linea and the Punto do carry some bling.
We surely do that! [:D]
Punto and Linea are considered as "Class" vehicles. People don't bother anything beyond their "Class" here.

Fiat and Tata Motors may be headed for divorce after the two carmakers ended a deal this month that had allowed Fiat to sell cars via Tata's Indian dealerships for the past six years.

The move could pave the way for Fiat to strengthen its ties to Suzuki Motor in Asia's third-largest auto market, analysts at IHS Automotive and Cyrrus AS said. Fiat and the Japanese carmaker have worked together for almost a decade, and expanding those ties could help Fiat boost its presence in the country.

Suzuki, which accounts for 42 percent of auto sales in India, may in turn benefit from Fiat's diesel engines and network of dealers in markets such as Brazil, Latin America's biggest economy.

I would rather see FIAT selling its cars independently rather than typing up with another company even if it happens to be the leading car seller in India. We all know the idea of a JV selling under one roof has backfired & FIAT is licking its wounds right now to try & set things right & get some numbers in its kitty.

Looks like something is happening at Fiat headquarters. Had a pleasant feeling while I read this.

Fiat lines up SUVs, new models for bigger India play

Following its distribution break up with Tata Motors, Fiat India will launch cars in newer segments to expand its India market-share. It will also maintain its focus on the B and C segments where its Grande Punto and Linea are prominent.

For its solo journey, Fiat has an expanded product portfolio in mind, which will likely encompass sports utility vehicles (SUVs) as demand for bigger cars grows in India.

Enrico Atanasio, head-commercial, Fiat India, said: “There is growth in the SUV segment. The number of products from both Fiat and competitors will definitely increase the choice for customers. However, this does not reduce the importance of the B and C segments, which are expected to grow further.”

Fiat currently boasts big-size vehicles such as Fiat 500 L (compact 5- / 7-seater SUV which was showcased at the recent Geneva Motor Show; pictured above) and Fiat Qubo (5-seater multi-purpose vehicle or MPV) among its stable. These could well make it to the Indian market. Atanasio said even an India-specific Fiat product is within the realm of possibility.

The imaginative approach has been necessitated by Fiat’s declining sales as so far only two products in its existing portfolio were launched in the Indian market. In fiscal 2012, Fiat sold 16,073 units, down 23.87% on-year, which translates to just 0.7% market-share in India.

This the company aims to double in the next three years, Atanasio said. For, every automaker needs to have a clear product strategy and have presence in multiple segments.
Abdul Majeed, leader, automotive practice, PricewaterhouseCoopers, said that with competition growing and new segments emerging, it is extremely important for Fiat to have new products in the market.

“However, in order to ensure volumes, the company should continue to focus on the volume segments and have the right distribution strategy,” said Majeed.

Mr Enrico Atanasio readily admits that the next 18-24 months will be “tough” for Fiat in India after which things will take off. “We will have some problems in the short term when dealerships are being set up. The fate of Fiat post-2014 will be good and positive by which time we will be able to take full advantage of what we will build,” the Senior Vice-President (Commercial), Mr Enrico Atanasio, told Business Line.

Fiat recently parted ways with the Tatas on the joint retail business model and has now decided to go on its own. This is the toughest challenge ahead for Mr Atanasio, who has been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the new base.

“I cannot launch a product without a network but am trying to speed up the entire exercise. The more we accelerate, the quicker will be the recovery,” he says, while cautioning that Fiat must resist the temptation of thinking that “we have done it”. The key is to “do things in an orderly fashion and sell as much as we can in the short-term”.

The good news is that the response from potential dealers has been overwhelming though the existing Tata-Fiat network will be given top priority. “They have been supporting us and are keen on continuing the association,” Mr Atanasio says. For a company whose association with India began in the 1950s, Fiat has just not been able to make a mark here though it has had short-lived successes in the Uno and Palio. However, Mr Atanasio puts all this behind and reiterates that the building blocks are now in place to take the story to the next level. Today, India is part of Fiat’s renewed strategy for the Asia-Pacific which also includes China, Japan, Australia and South Korea.

“We have five R&D centres in Asia-Pacific of which the biggest is in Chennai (Chrysler India Automotive) with over 1,200 engineers. The second is in Ranjangaon near Pune which employs 35 engineers. These people are the most important group in the Fiat world,” Mr Atanasio says.

To that extent, India represents the “biggest thinking pool” for the group worldwide where engineers here develop projects for Fiat in North/Latin America, Europe, West Asia and Africa. Fiat’s brand awareness in India is also the highest in Asia-Pacific and only the third largest in the world after Italy and Brazil.

India will play a “central role alongside China” and even while the company is tight-lipped on its future product range, Mr Atanasio believes the future lies in the B plus, C medium/plus and the SUV segments while factoring in “some specialities like the Fiat 500”.

If the script goes according to plan, there will be an interesting range from the Fiat and Chrysler stables in the coming years.

WOW !

It is indeed a great news. Any news about the service centre opening in Delhi/NCR ? I do not why but why Fiat has to always wait and open these things one at a time. Why cannot they wait for 20-30 days and open 3-4 centres and different location in one go. That will create more impact.
