Colour depends on based on their choice which everyone knows. Most people love coloured car than boring colour of silver / grey / white. Beat / Figo lemon green was not accepted initially. But after the launch of these car, people liked it.

But the fight begins when ...

Our Heart decides the colour of our car, but the devil [evil] in your mind comes out here and brain washes you to go for grey or silver by saying that it is
1. easy to maintain,
2. Scratches will not be evident.
3. Re-sale value will be more or easily salable (again reasons are same).
4. Maintenance cost is high.

Finally the heart looses to our calculative mind always.

Are white cars cheaper to tinker/fix/paint? Me and my colleague were having a discussion the other day and he said that white cars are cheaper to fix/touch up and paint. Why's that?

BUmp...can someone clarify?
Most white colored paint in cars are of the non metallic type or called solid paint( VW, etc)
Hence the maintainence of a metallic paint in a touch up job is difficult since the get the correct matching in color is tough.

People who drive black cars have an egocentric personality,i notice even when overtaken their ego starts hurting more than the other cars & arrogance in driving is also there.

So when buying the car, the person is in a showoff mood they go for black, barring superstition who go for white.

Most of the peoples choose these colors since its easy to maintain. Also dust and scratches are easily visible in the dark colors compared to these colors. So no need to worry much about the small scratches in the light color cars, which is so visible in the dark color cars even from somewhat long distance.

1 of my car is a Silver one and the other is dark shade i.e Urban Titanium. Silver one is actually easy to maintain and not much hassle of paint matching is there as in every metallic shade has a certain quantity of Silver color. Hence availability is not a issue too.

My Honda City was scratched on rear left quarter panel and the scratch looked slightly deep so took it for a repaint at FNG and it was a herculean task to match it to the original. No computer matching helped either since the mixing of right quantity was not correct. Only I or my pocket knows how difficult it was to revert it to original shade though there is a slight difference still present.

Also, I have observed, even the ASCs are not confident and skilled enough to do accurate paint matching which further adds to woes of maintaining a metallic shade car. As per my experience, Maruti Suzuki needs a lot of improvement in re-painting a car at their ASCs. Their paint quality is not good.

I never liked the color Silver on any car, its most boring. Whereas White and Grey at-least have some character.

Light color is preferred in North and West India. Whereas East and South India prefer mix of both. Its evident in house colors too. Weather plays huge role.

Black colored car is not viewed as bad omen in North India, who tend to be less superstitious compared to Southern counterparts. Most of 2-wheelers on Indian roads are black, except Activa.

I think when people go to showrooms in Non-metro cities, they see only white and silver cars. How can they order a different colored car without seeing? Also one has to wait for different color. They go with safer choice. Showroom people are also not pushing other colors.

I think we should ban White and Silver for one year.

Sir none. No paint/color comes with life-time warranty/guaranty of having same shine over the years as on day 1. The problems range from oxidation to rusting in each color and become recurring if the car gets re-painted because many owners after purchase do not wish to get it re-painted from ASC sighting insurance and cost involved in it. After 4-5 years of use, the paints does starts to oxidize. Reason for the same is atmospheric pollution and weather condition and also to a major extent the upkeep by the owners. It is recommended that in order to delay this process, one can keep the car clean, not let water accumulate in edges and exposure to moisture should be kept minimal. Also, washing the car often under sunlight with running water leads to paint damage. So, to protect the paint, best is to detail the car every 4-5 months and make sure if the car is serviced at ASC or washed at ASC then no residue or water should be left behind on paint. In this way you can delay this process but can't totally avoid the same.

Well said, Akash1886. [clap]

In my observation, White and Silver holds longertime, But thats just an observation & not in strict sense.

Gone are those days who spends the lifetime with an Amby or with Maruti 800. In our trends no one holds the car for a lifetime. So, we gotta have to maintain as Akash said and bring the best out of it. BTW, all the best for your Storme. That's one hell of great vehicle. [:)]

Re: Car paint vs age

as rightly said by raaj white and silver hold for a longertime without fading but the best is white. if maintained well it lasts longer. i have a white colour car though not my favourite color but its in its original paint till now and its a 1997 Model. so i feel white holds longer than any other color. and congratulation in advance @ ISO2015 for booking the beast im sure you will love every bit of it.

White colour and Silver are better when it comes to any type of vehicle.

But,

White colour vehicle needs more washing after a rainy day drive. One of my relative has a Manza White, he used to wash it only when he gets time (when he is bored) so now after 5 - 6 years his car looks dull with many small dents which are much evident.

Silver Colour vehicle needs less washing but not like the white vehicle and many small dents will not be evident which is a positive point in this colour. And the lines of the vehicle will be much evident when it is silver in colour.

Atlast, White looks much more grand than the Silver but it must be duly maintained. Silver Colour to any vehicle makes the dents to be invisible and according to me Silver will be the best choice.
