Sail=All new product, positioned under the Aveo. Will be called Sail only.
New Aveo=Replacement for current Aveo in our market.(Current Aveo will be phased out)
Corsa's Hatchback version was known as "Corsa Sail" and this car was manufactured by Opel Brand, which is Internationally owned by General Motors Corporation.
Yes, Chevy is a GM brand.
Also,
Quite a few cars have been rebadged as Chevy by GM and are sold in India, like -
1. Isuzu Panther = Chevy Tavera
2. Some Daewoo car, maybe Daewoo Nubira = Chevy Optra.
3. Spark = overhauled Daewoo matiz.
Corsa Sail is the estate version of Corsa.Corsa is an Opel.Opel is owned by GM!Opel was phased out in India due to high maintaince costs of cars.
As a matter of fact the Chevrolet Sail's platform is similar to Corsa's platform.
Not only this. Chevy killed Opel in India to make way for the GM brand.
In a way,
Optra replaced Astra, Aveo replaced the Corsa and U-VA replaced the Sail.
All the 3 newbies sold in numbers similar to their predecessors!!!
My bad.Yes it was the Hatch version.
And Chevy did not kill the opel brand GM killed the Opel brand to bring in Chevy.Gm is the parent for both.Opel car with their german engineering were not fuel efficient & high on maintaince.
Mind you, the Optra was a massive success when it was launched.
But the Aveo siblings could never hit the spot thanks to the lack of a diesel motor.
Oops I didn't mean it that way. I do know that the Optra was a sucess back then, but the ratio of its sales then to its sales now is similar to the ratio of the sales of the Astra when it was launched to that when it was much older.
Besides both have lackluster resale value.
I hope the new Chevy Sail won't continue with this trend.
no hope it will not..but it doesnt looks good that after launching futuristic hatch like beat chevy will launch sedan like sail which is not very futuristic like beat nor new aveo..
