That's slow but good going. The cabinet you have used to mount the motherboard, are you sure that it will take the last? The plastic might crack due to load. How will you mount the HDD? Which HDD are you using? And what front-end will you be using. Which software for navigation? have you bought the GPS receiver? Which monitor screen have you decided to use? Could you post give the link to wireless keyboard and mouse you bought? There's a long way to go from now-on. The most hectic procedure is installation.

that's a very neat box!
be sure to place 1intake and 1 exhaust fan for cooling ,otherwise the whole setup will cook in 2-3 hours. use thin cloth as a Filter /mesh beneath the fans.
That box has bean designed by my brother who is an orthopedician.
Special thanks to dr.kiran.
I have tested the box for 24hours nonstop running.

No heating problem atoll!

But anyhow. thanks for the advice I will consider it.

Great going!
Can i ask for a piece of advice , i have a dual din kenwood player in my car and i am looking for a rear lcd display behind the seat, i am not interesting in roof mounted ones nor the small head rest ones, i want something 12 inch atleast that could be custom fit behind the front seat. Any suggestions ?
The best option is buy any 10” or 14” LED tv and power it with an inverter. I am even looking for that kind of setup. Will let you know the status.

Am avoiding touch screen monitors specially made for car use. Since they are very costly and not serviced in india.

Good luckk!

I know. am going very slow. That’s only because of the time factor.

The HDD will sit between the mainboard and the PSU. I will be going with SSD.

For now am booting with USB. With openELEC on it.

Its an HDPC OS. fast and reliable concept.

I may stick with this till I buy SSD. and I will consider windows server2003 OS and some open source frontend.

I know that’s an absolute OS. but you know that’s amazingly fast system. And its very strong! It can tolerate force shutdowns.

Hi friends its bean a very long time that I dint update this thread.

I was completely busy in my business all this days. And that made me to stay away from my car pc
project for a while.

I had a great surprise on my birthday. Looking at my love for my car pc project. My wife has orderd a SSD on ebay. Which has arrived right on my birthday.

But now she is repenting for the gift. Because am spending more time with the car pc than spending time with her. Possessive wifes! Lol

The SSD is Toshiba 128GB drive. Looks very sleek and lite.
It has SATA3.0 connection.
Toshiba 128GB Sata 3 Internal Solid State Drive Q Series HDTS212AZSTA 2 5'' | eBay

I used 2way tape to stick the SSD to my car pc case.
After I wired every thing in place. I powerd it on with my spare SMPS and installed windows 7 x64bit.
After the install I could manage to boot up the pc in 30sec.

Day 2
Got into the car with cutter, knifes and screw driver.

I have decided to use 2.5 SQMM gage wire to pull power lines from my amp.

Remember! I told you that I wanted to keep my setup simple so that I can take my pc home when ever I need it there. For that I wanted some thing like plug and play setup.

First I thought of using the tipe of connectors which comes with the computer power cables. But I dint like the cable quality. Am sure that there will be some loss of amps and volts if I use such wires.
Then I bought 16amps AC plug and a socket with the surface box to mount them into it.

I would have gone with 5amps plug but I was worried that some one may plug it into my car inverter by mistake.

I ran the VGA cable to the VGA to composite video convertor and a RCA composite video cable to the HU.

Which goes into the AV/AUX port on my HU. As a 3.5 jack with the audio cables connected to it.
I turned the key on. switched the HU sorce to AV. That’s! it theres the windows screen on my HU .

As soon as I landed on the desktop. I played some music to check the audio.
Unfortunately the audio was very distorted. The lesion is stil unknown!

I tried connecting pc direct to the amp and smiles! The audio is clear. However I could here pops and clicks some times.

What mite be the problem?

Please help.

Photos coming shortly.

it's possible that the vehicle ground and audio ground are interfering. I would check the connections once. also, is the PC ground touching the vehicle? try isolating the problem one by one.

nice to have you back. and yeah that was a very lucky gift!

Today I used a different AUX cable and connected my mobile to the HU to play songs.

Unfortunately the audio was distorted like before.

I think there is some thing rong with my HU. Need to take it to the service(
