Am taking delivery of my Silver XUV5OO on Saturday or Sunday. [clap]
Completed the PDI Yesterday and it went well, no issues spotted, except for the fact that the car interior was full of mud and dust. [frustration]
The Sales guy promised a squeaky clean car during delivery.
He was telling me that usually they do not let the customers have a look at the car while its in the stockyard as they will be hart broken by seeing the dust and all on it.

Tomorrow we need to complete all the bank loan formalities and then on Friday the car will go for registration.
If all goes well, will get all the accessories loaded on Saturday and take the delivery that day itself.

I have a question TAIans:-
The Sales guy was telling me that if I want to change/ choose the normal number allocation, need to pay 6K & for fancy numbers 25K+.
Is this true that we need to pay this amount in B'lore?
I remember choosing number when we did registration for my new Pulsar & for Santro ( in 2005/ 2006).
The registration guy asked me for my choice among some 10 - 15 numbers and I did not even pay a penny.
Is this 6K the sales guy talking about an official fee or for under table dealing?
Any idea?

Hope you have done PDI carefully and hope the vehicle was not used before for TD/ferrying sales person. Else there is no reason mud will be inside the floors. I have done PDI for many cars(Maruti, Ford, Tata, VW, Skoda, Nissan), there might be some dust inside but mud does not sound good. Please double check.

25K is official figure for running series "fancy" numbers. 6K is absolutely under the table for "good" (read not fancy) numbers again from running series. E.g. I did not go for this ,but got a better number out of luck. The sales girl was asking me to pay 4K saying they had to pay same to RTO. I asked her to be shut as I know how it works.

Are you registering in new KA-51 RTO? Is stone's throw distance from my house.

@Anshuman - Yes, My car will be registered at the KA-51 RTO, mostly it will happen on Friday.
I did the PDI quite well.
The mud that am talking about is only on the floor in the driver side, all other floor area was clean.
I think the driver did not care to dust off his shoes before he got in during the drive from Marthahalli main stockyard to the Sireesh Hosur road stockyard.
The odometer reading was 51KMs, so presume it was not used for more drives.
One thing that we could not check was the puddle lamp.
The sales guy did not know how and when it works, same with me also.
It never came on, I was under the assumption that it will be turned on every time we open the door, is it not?

Anybody having the exact road tax % for XUV500?
As per the price list of XUV, road tax is charged @ 18.8%, on top of that the showroom is charging another 8K for incidental charges. [anger]
Not sure if its legal, as I read in this forum that there was a declaration/ rule for not charging the customer for such charges in Delhi, Don't understand why they did not make it all over India.
Anyways will ask for the breakup of all these amount and for the receipt as well and try to negotiate on the under table 6K on choice of number with that. [;)]

Ok, that is better mud was only on driver's side. Though 51 km is bit high. I got my cars delivered at 16 km, 31 km, and 25 km respectively.

My advise is please be present at the time of registration at RTO and choose number yourself. That will save 6K. Tax is correct 18% (more than 10 lacs).

Anshuman quoted you correctly, try to be present at RTO for the registeration process, you can get the choice of numbers available there without having to pay that 6K.
If you want some specified number falling into that list of specialised numbers then need to pay more, else for routine registerations go and select from the ones available.
Puddle lamp should be working each time you open your door, XUV owners confirm this please, could that might not be connected at the stockyard and would do now before delivery, do check at the time of delivery.
Any images from your PDI at stockyard?

XUV has two types of puddle lamps -

1) Under the ORVM : Somes on when you unlock the car in the night along with the headlights. Switches off as soon as you open any of the doors.

2) Under the doors : Comes on everytime you open the door.

@anshuman8 - I did ask for that, especially after them confirming that the registration would happen only on Saturday as Friday is a govt. holiday.
But the sales guy told me that the RTO guys will not allow customers there, even if I join them, I will have to wait outside of the office and will not have permission and access to the registration and number choice area.
I do not completely buy this as there are many people who do the registration on their own, atleast have read in this forum about people doing it themselves.
Will insist that I will also join, lets see what will be the result.
My worry is that, if the RTO guys understand that the owner is around, will they try to ask for more amount under the table. [evil]

@Raj_5004 - I was talking about the puddle lamp on the ORVM.
I thought that this light also will glow when we open the door every time.
Thanks for clarifying.
The red lights under the doors were working fine.

Down payment and Loan formalities completed today.
It was hell of a day, lot many paper works and formalities and run arounds.
Guess why - its SBI car loan, but it was the in-house loan team handling this, still had to spend almost one full day in the SBI, had to take the day off as well, both me and wife. [gun]
The bank will disburse the loan amount only after the ECS forms are signed & sealed by my salary account bank and returned to them it seems, weird rules.
This is even after taking a cheque from me for the November month EMI. [rules]

Since Friday is a govt. holiday, registration will happen only on Saturday and delivery on Sunday.

Dealer guys are just giving BS. They dont want you to be around.

Ask the time when your dealer guy will be at RTO and make a surprise visit. In this way TATA dealers/SAs are very cordial at least.

The red light is just a warning light for other road users when you open the door. It is not the puddle lamp.

The puddle lamp is further down the door and its white. Its easily visible when you open the door in the night, it lights up the area where you step down.

Today I went to the Sireesh for getting my XUV accessorized.
Reached the showroom at around 2:45PM - 3PM, there were lot of people in the showroom.
The whole space was decorated with balloons and all, it was made really beautiful.
Yesterday itself my sales person, Kiran had told me that they are today celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the launch of XUV & the car winning the Customer Satisfaction Award and that am invited for the function.
There was a good, tasty, big cake which was cut by the customers, (even I did the cake cutting) was proud to be a part of the celebration. [cheers]
Everyone present there were gifted with a printed coffee mug, there was a photo session as well.
Have not received them yet, will upload as soon as I get it.
Attaching below the snaps of the coffee mug taken using my phone (SGS2).

Coming to my XUV, it was dirty today as well, the wash and cleaning was pending.
Still we went ahead with the accessory fittings.
It took almost 1.5hrs to 2hrs, by then it was already 6PM and then sent for cleaning which will take almost 1.5hrs it seems.
The dealers had already told me that they do not deliver cars after 6PM, and I had agreed to take delivery on Sunday, so no worries.

Accessories added:
1. Chrome Allure Kit (excluding the ORVM & handles)
2. Reverse Parking Camera
3. Side Beading
4. Rain Visors
5. Footsteps
6. Rear Guard
7. Idol & Perfume (some local waste orange flavor perfume, will throw it away & get an Ambi-Pure tomorrow)
8. Tomorrow will buy the Maxpider 3D black mats @ 6800/-

By the way, the vehicle registration (@RTO) process was completed today and I managed to get a reasonably good number - 5112 (Digital mirror image - totaling a 9) by paying 6K though.
Will go to the showroom tomorrow morning at 9AM to take the delivery.

Excited & Happy..!!! Waiting for the night to end & the Sun to come out...[clap]
