BYD and Vantage Automotive, an authorized dealer in Singapore, made headlines this week with the launch of the BYD DOLPHIN, a sleek electric vehicle (EV) that embodies the concept of “ocean aesthetics.” This marks the second pure electric passenger car model introduced by BYD in Singapore, but the first one is based on their advanced e-platform 3.0. The car comes equipped with a blade battery and meets the COE A standard, with a price tag of 156,888 Singapore dollars, approximately 841,222 yuan.
The BYD DOLPHIN boasts impressive specifications, featuring a 44.9kWh battery that delivers 94 horsepower and 180Nm of power. With a 100 km acceleration time of 12.3 seconds and a WLTP cruising range of 340 km, this five-seater model offers a compelling package for EV enthusiasts. The 12.3secs 0-100km/h sprint timing and 340km WLTP range are par for the course and should serve most households for up to a week between charges.
It also comes with the 12.8-inch central infotainment touchscreen that’s rotatable in either landscape or portrait format, as seen in the BYD Atto 3, while there’s also Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, voice assistant, and over-the-air software update capability.
BYD has established itself as the leading EV brand in Singapore, having sold over 300 units in the first half of 2023 alone. Huang Chunquan, general manager of BYD Singapore Branch, expressed confidence in the BYD DOLPHIN’s potential success, stating that it will be embraced by customers of all ages and contribute to a greener future for Singapore.
