Tata Xenon Tuff Truck Concept unveiled in Australia

Tata Motors India would launch the Xenon pick-up in the Australian auto market by October this year. The company has now officially revealed the Tuff Truck concept at the National 4x4 & Outdoors Show in Australia, which is specially developed for the launch of the Tata Motors brand in Australia. The concept was jointly designed and developed by the Fusion Automotive and Tata Motors, with the design team headed up by Walkinshaw Automotive Chief designer Julian Quincey.

Darren Bowler, managing director of Australian Tata distributor Fusion Automotive said,
The acceptance I am looking for is brand appeal. If you look at the Xenon and the toughness and appeal that it offers in its segment, doing the Tuff Truck Concept immediately boosts that brand appeal from day one. But at the moment it is purely a concept. I’d love to put it in production someday. But the reality is there needs to be the market demand for it first.
Based on the Tata Xenon, the concept vehicle embraces every aspect of the original Xenon's bold and muscular design, and is headed to a next level with 4x4 inclusion. The Tuff Truck Concept features an aggressive front bumper, LED daytime running lights, 20 inch alloy wheels coupled to an off-road tyres. The concept features an exclusive designed body kit and accessories pack, making it more aggressive and sporty, such as the wheels, snorkel and sports bar with the roof, driving and sport lights.

Under the hood, the Tuff Truck features the same 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine which is capable of developing 148bhp and 320Nm of top torque. The power is transmitted to all four wheels via five speed manual transmission. The standard Tata Xenon, which goes on sale in October 2013, will feature driver and front passenger airbags as well as in car features such as bluetooth and USB connectivity as standard.

But can't they design a SUV on similar concept ? Maybe a all new grande ?
Tata vehicles have always been about utility I think if you leave the Safari & the recent Grande out most of their vehicle are down to earth in the looks department!

But this Australian Xenon is truly eye candy! [lol] Thanks for sharing!

What an Awesome Looking truck!

The only thing I notice is that the tyres seem to be bit thin compared to the beast over all .. Look at the side profile. the Tyre thickness seem to be bit thin.

Hope this comes into production and not just a concept and thrown back in archives.

It may surely come to production, but not in India, only in Australia. Indian market still have long way to go in terms of Automotive maturity.[;)]

Looks good
Aussie market has lots of dual cabs ( these are called dual cabs in Australia not truck)

This will have to compete against:
Mitsubishi Trinton
Toyota Hilux
Nissan Navara
Volkswagon Amarok
Mazda BT60
Holden Colorado
Ford Ranger
Isuzu D-max

The Xenon looks at par with the existing dual cabs in Australia market. TML could put LED projector headlamps as most of them do not have projector headlamps. Infact I liked it over Nissan, Volkswagen, Mazda ..

Looks wise TML have got it right. Now the question is on the engine performance and interior appearance.

Actually the companies from India must build a market for "Indian products" which are world class and oozing with Indian values- "More Car Per Car" for sure.. [;)]
