Friends, I have ordered the light (CONEL 12V 3 LED DC LIGHT) mentioned by carma in above post for the following reasons.

  • The existing setup already broken
  • When I went to the link above mentioned it has only 2 in stock
  • I have searched for the same in other sites and end up "No Stock" and more over the price was double the price than the above link

CONEL 12V 3 LED DC LIGHT.png

When I see the above pic I have got the following doubts and I request my friends to clarify if possible.

  • It is mentioned as Battery Included what kind of battery it would be?
  • If battery is included then why wires are there?
  • In that case is it rechargeable?
  • if it is rechargeable should i have to use rechargeable battery ?
  • Apart from that could I find any device which can switch of the light automatically after some time after I switch off the engine?

1.Most probably it will be a rechargeable battery.
2.Wire are included for charging the rechargeable battery inside the unit.
3.Yes.
4.Not required if you don't connect those wires, but if you connect the wires then you should only use a rechargeable battery.
5.I think it will be a difficult task [roll]

Honestly a 3watts led will be toooooo much for lighting a boot space. IMO a 1 watt led will do the job perfectly.
I request you to collect the reviews of this product about how long will it last. I'm saying this why because a 1 watts led produces a large amount of heat and it does requires a very good heat sink or else it will blown up very quickly, here three 1 watts led are positioned too closer so really I dont think it can dissipate the heat.

Kishu, Thanks for the info.

Regarding heat, this comment suits even if the light is used for few seconds may be for couple of minutes also? Being a bot light I may not use it regularly.

I think it wont be a pain if it is used only for a couple of mins.
The reason for saying about heatsinks why because recently i had a small DIY with these 1 watt led. When i was searching for the information about the heat sink, I found a watt of LED power needs about 9 square inches of surface area open to the air for the best heat dissipation.

Attaching my recent DIY of 3 1watt led lamp. See the heatsink that i have used in it even this gets hot after a few mins of usage.
Right now its in uplighting setup which is placed over the cupboard in the dinning room.
Obviously its not bright as our regular cfl lamps, but still this 3W LED lamp serves the purpose well enough. So when it comes to a boot space, i think this 3watts lamp will make you look like [shock].

When you want light of a long time, just make sure to give few seconds of break to cool them.

One more thing is that, even though this is a 3 watts lamp if the manufacturer is not applying the maximum forward current for this leds, then this wont emit much light and heat. so in that case it will be safe to use for a long time.

Could we connect it to the cabin light. Would it harm the car's battery?

Drawing a 3 watts of power from the battery wont make any harm to it.(Here i'm not speaking about a connection of the lamp mentioned by sethu, because i dont know about that lamp. What i have said is just about the power required for a 3w lamp from the car battery.)

When connecting to the cabin light, its better to upgrade your cabin light from halogen to LED so as to reduce the load in that circuit. Since a 3w increase in power consumption may can blow the fuse of cabin circuit.(Generally a cabin light use to be a 8w halogen.)

Sethu, buy an LED torch and keep it in the vehicle. This could be multipurpose, for Boot light, as well as in case of emergencies inside / outside the car, and even away from the car.

This is what i've done. [;)]

Yea, but still such modifications are really convenient and mind blowing thing to see the boot space light getting on and off with respect to the boot lid getting open/ close [;)].

It looks cool. Can you give me some details.
Did you use any adaptors to blow this lamp because you used in House which is 230v and the wiring diagram. I am going to try this at my home or in my car.

Its a very Simple DIY

Three 1watt White LEDs and driver brought from ebay.
Got aluminium channel from the junkyard and cut into required length and provided it as heat sink for the LEDs. thats it.
