Bangalore to Tirupati (Tirumala)

I am planning to go to Tirumala, sometime next year.
It will be full family trip, means 5 adults and a small kid.

Please provide the information you have on route from Bangalore. Also on accommodation front.

I have never been to Tirupati, but what I know is that there are long queues, so you will need to book a room or two nearby or maybe there itself in advance. Anyways, I hope that Mukesh can help further in this regard. Just check Google Maps for a rough idea on routes, it’s an approx. 4 – 5 hours drive. Should be interesting.

RSM do you really want to stay? You can start early morning around 5AM , finish darshan and return back home before 9PM in the night.


We have been to Tirupathi several times by car , not once we stay there. It takes 3 and half hours for us , nothing much of a difference.

I was about to say this. Better stay there and do find out about the other places nearby which you can visit. Also if possible avoid night driving.

Oh okay. In that case in Tirumala you have many good hotels to stay. And also since you are staying , there are few more temples around Tirumala worth visiting. One such thing is Kalahasti temple around 60KMS away from Tirupathi , a very famous temple. The Gopuram of that temple also collapsed fully and the debris is still lying in that place.


My suggestion for Hotel , try Hotel Bhimaas. Its a 3-star hotel , a bit pricey but worth it. Rooms will be excellent and food will also be good! Try to book rooms well in advance , else it will get difficult to find one.


My suggestion , go on a wednesday or thursday rush will be minimum. Plan yourself so that you reach uphill around 10:30AM atleast. Darshan seva tickets cost around Rs.300 per head i think. Then get a good darshan and you will come out of temple around 2:00PM in the noon. Proceed downhill and and there is one temple which is nearby which is famous again , visit it. Then next day morning you can go to Kalahasti temple and then return back to Bangalore.

You will have to book rooms in TTD here in Malleshwaram(Vayyalikaval).
That you have to do 3 months before.

We had actually done in Mutt.
I had gone to Tirumala last year.
Security has been beefed up, Now you won't feel that you are driving ghats.
While going to Tirumala all the baggages has to be scanned by X-ray, You will get a ticket.
Then the 2nd checking by Police, then you are let in.
While going up to Tirumala the roads are superb with markings.
The old road earlier with curves is being used for descenting.
Darshan after 11 pm will be easy.
But wehad gone there without any preparation.
Finally we had gone there through influence through VIP section.
Route you have to follow is Bangalore-Old Madras road-Kolar-Chittor-Mulabagil-Tirupathi-Tirumala.

Another route is via Vellore-Chittor.

The places you can visit there is Tirumala Museum.
On the hill you can visit many places Antara gange and many more places.
The best hotel there is Woody's or Woodland.

Yes as dhaya suggested kalahasti can be done in tirupati.
Also Govinda raja Swamy temple is a must visit temple in Tirupathi.

You will have to book rooms in TTD here in Malleshwaram(Vayyalikaval).
That you have to do 3 months before.

The room can be booked through their website on internet, so i will use that.
The process to book from Malleshwaram is tedious as everybody needs to be present there physically for some finger scanning.

Well generally rush used to be very high on Saturday , Sunday and Monday as they say its special occasion to see Lord Venkateshwara on Saturdays. Wednesday and Thursday will have the minimum rush. Since you are also taking your daughter along with you , i suggest you go on Wednesday.

March first week will be fine but make sure you go on Wednesday or Thursday. Any Saturday will have huge crowd!

Can anyone throw some info on Seegradarshanam(Quick Darshan) in Tirumala.
Even i am in dilemma, where to book for rooms.
Has anyone gone there recently.

The vehicle will be self driven(Hawk).
