if its just the battery go for amaron this time, somehow I have had better experience with amaron than exide.
Even i have had Good Experience with Amaron, however they do not have 14Ah batteries. only 12v 8Ah is available with Amaron hence i went with Exide.

@Incarnation !!! i must say that your atom is the first bike i have drooled over ! Hats off to your mod job [clap]
Thanks for the kind words and Compliments. These days i have this urge to build a Cafe Racer with reverse levers, In brushed Metal Finish Raw No Paint whatsoever except for powder coated Frame. Somebody gimme thier bike ill build it for them[lol]

Finally got the battery back today. will be fixing it tomorrow. however on the 19th of june all the bikers regardless of which bike they ride had planned to meet on account of celebration of WMD( World Motorcycle Day) which happens to be the 21st of June which falls on a Wednesday. we all met and finalized that we would celebrate that day on 19th and do some good work that day.

we all met at the beach rode to the city where forest dept people had arranged for saplings that we would plant. so all bikers in collaboration with the forest dept planted saplings.

Felt really happy to do my bit for the environment. sad news was Atom was missing i had borrowed my friends DS and rode on it for the entire day . i must say DS did surprise me with its humoungus torque.

at the end of the day ATOM is ATOM no replacement for it.

pics coming soon...

as promised pic of world Envoirnment day
world envoirnment day.jpg

however ATOM has developed a strage tappet noise, on inspection the showroom guys suggested that i need to change the hydraulic tappets cost of replacement 2500+ labour.

my bike is run 35,000 kms is it a good time for tappets to wear out, or is there specific time limitation for tappets getting worn out. previous bulls had manual tappet adjustments but as UCE has hydraulic tappets there is no adjustments they say is it true.

well the tappet issue is still not resolved kept that work for a later date, however last week the speedo stopped functioning and on inspection found that the cable had broken inside the meter and that meant that new cable couldnt be installed and had to change the meter or else send the meter for repair which as per the mech would not function as early so installed a new speedo

cost of the part with labour was 1300/-

no much rides are happening due to the busy schedule and festivals so Atom is taken a back seat.

Instead of consulting the showroom guys you consider consulting the expert royal enfield mechanics who have been many years repairing the bullets from the old one's to the new one's, they might guide you even more better than the showroom guys.

had consulted the old mech's but they say, they don't want to spend time on new machines as they have lots on thier plate right now. This guy i went to is famous only for RE's but old ones he doesn't touch any other bike except RE and that too old ones but very knowledgeable guy.

Hello Everyone,
I could not find any right forum hence asking in this active threat
I recently did a booking for Classic 350 from Velacherry showroom but question is - i do not go for long drive and stay within Chennai, hence will RE suit my requirement? I do understand pros and cons of owning RE but is it worth paying 1.48 for city ride?

You're not going for Long Drives and going to ride an 'RE' in City ? [lol] That's not what REs are made for.Not worth all the cost.It will be a pain to maneuver such a heavy bike in crawling city traffic. Also Maintenance will also be a bit high

I would say spend less and go with a good 200cc Bike,Perhaps the RTR 200 should do fine. It's a fantastic bike.Great for City slicking.

Riding an RE is not at all a stressful one except bumper to bumper traffic as your left palm alone starts to ache as you will be depressing the clutch and releasing it half when crawling in traffic.

And remember RE's are never heavy after when you have the experience of driving the new RE atleast 1000 Kms. When i first bought my RE i thought i would drop it somewhere in a traffic or while climbing in a bridge but after driving the bike for a full 1000 Kms then i began to drive it more easily than a 150 CC bike (my previous bike was Hero Xtreme). Maintanence of the RE is high but then nowadays every two wheeler manufacturer charges very close to the service of the RE. (For example: My friend has a unicorn and he says that it costs about Rs. 1000 for him when oil and everything are changed) So it is not a problem at all. And it is better to spend on RE's maintanence than for other bikes.

It is not about that you will be driving in city alone, but as you are more confident on driving the bike then you itself will start to drive your RE out on highway. (My experience)

And RE's might be heavy but once it starts to move then the weight of the bike is not at all felt.

And Buying an RE is itself worth a lot and driving it on the road also is a great pride to the one who is driving it so please do buy one and this is the only bike you can keep it with you through out your lifetime.

So continue/process your booking and just buy it and keep thumping.

All the Best [:)]

Hey Sudarmani, if its only city commute classic 350 is good since it has good mileage, however if you are new to RE it might be a problem initially but then you will get there, its not that RE's arent suited for city commute they definitely are but its natural vegetation would be highways, as mitra said once you have it, you would want to take it on the highways may be you will one day become a Longhauler who knows, dont worry too much will it suit you or not go with the heart do what your heart says. Keep Thumping. Ride Hard,Ride Safe.
