The 2024 Skoda Superb has been worldwide launched by the automaker, roughly a month after the new-generation Skoda Kodiaq debuted. A thorough generational upgrade to the sedan includes changes to the design, interior, amenities, and even the available powertrains. This fourth generation of the Superb sedan is also set to be launched in India next year.

The new Superb features Skoda's new Modern Solid design language and is available in two body styles for European markets: sedan and combi (estate). The new Superb liftback is 43mm longer at 4,912mm than the previous model, 15mm narrower at 1,849mm, and 12mm taller at 1,481mm. The wheelbase is still 2,841mm long.

The new Superb combi, on the other hand, is 40mm longer at 4,902mm, 15mm slimmer at 1,849mm, and 5mm taller at 1,482mm than the present model.

It gets a revamped front grille, updated LED headlights and DRLs, and a new front bumper with crisp detailing. The side profile remains unchanged, however, the shoulder line and wrinkles around the bottom border have been updated.

It also receives new alloy wheels ranging in size from 16 to 19 inches. Skoda has changed the rear end design, as well as the front end, with new C-shaped LED tail lights with separate light components and an improved bumper design without false exhaust vents.

The next-generation Superb will continue to offer petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. All of the gasoline and diesel engines are linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The standard engine is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol with a 48V mild-hybrid system that produces 150PS of power. Above it are two 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engines, one with 204PS and the other with 265PS, as well as two 2.0-litre turbo-diesels, one with 150PS and one with 193PS. All-wheel drive is standard on the most powerful petrol and diesel variants.

In Europe, the 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder plug-in hybrid will give more than 100 kilometers of electric range and will be available only in wagon form.

In contrast to the appearance, the inside of the new Superb represents a significant shift from the previous model. The dual-tone concept, offset by silver inlays and surrounds, seems elegant and expensive. The 13-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, as well as the three knobs for HVAC settings, must be the focus point. It houses mini-screens as well as physical buttons for different HVAC settings.

There is no longer a drive-selector in the centre console; instead, they are controlled via a stalk behind the steering wheel. Instead, it includes a phone tray and cup holders that can be accessible by sliding back the tray.

As part of this generational upgrade, the Superb receives level-2 ADAS, park assist, ten airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, and an emergency assist program that takes control of the vehicle in extreme situations, bringing it to a halt by the side and activating an emergency call.

The new Skoda Superb will be available in worldwide markets early next year, and it will be available in India later that year as a CBU (fully built-up unit). The upgraded sedan will be priced starting at Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with the Toyota Camry, BMW 2 Series, and Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine.
