Congrats for the car.
Just to clear your confusion , both the city and verna have lifeless steering. Dont know where you read about the fatalities. Do keep this in mind.
I agree about Verna but City steering isnt too lifeless, it has OK amount of feel unlike Hyundai and Audi cars which inspire zero confidence (Audi in Comfort Mode, Dynamic makes steering slightly heavier but still poor imho)
I have also owned Hydraulic steering cars like CRV but when it came to sudden steering at high speed, more force is required to avoid obstacles whereas City favours better in these cases once you understand the steering system better and are better adjusted to it
I cant even centre the steering on Audis and Hyundais though(Friends cars) :D
I own the 2010 City though, have driven the next gen one being discussed but I dont find much of a difference
point to note- I havent driven the new City on the highway yet, the 2010 one I have driven extensively on the highway
yes you are right. the suspension is pathetic in bad roads. but the suspension is very well for high speed. above 40kmph the car surprisingly rides smoothly and very planted to the roads. if it were smoother, then think about the handling.
Very Correct !! I own the 2010 City and I observe that at lower speeds- the suspension is very poor but at higher speeds, it absorbs the bumps very well like you said
Id be a bit wary of rocks and speedbreakers though, chances of scrape are high but the underbody is quite strong in case of a mistake
I believe the new City supports 205 size tyres going by various forums and Id suggest shifting to that when it comes to changing
I upgraded to 185 Bridgestones from the stock 175 Michellins but kept stock alloys instead of upgrade and now its a bit better in terms of ride etc but NVH went up a bit as compared to Michellins
Michellins were a bit too soft though in bad roads, mine wore out pretty fast even though running was low until I shifted to Bridgestone
Thank you so much
I didn't find it too noisy, yes it is louder compared to petrol engine.
I drive Innova and Duster, City Got more silent cabin, Engine noise is also very low.
on higway its butter smooth, low Road noise was present when tyres were filled with normal air. when I changed it to Nitrogen, road noise is also gone,
but Honda really need to improve suspension system,
right now its on stiffer side, even driving on small pothole gives thud sound.
There are some aftermarket mods to improve suspension , I havent tried it because I dont use my car that often so couldnt justify the cost and risk
Congrats on the car though and Im sure youll be as happy with it as many other old Honda customers who swear by the brand :)
