@CF

Thank you for the info, as I can read a lot about coorg on the net, but felt to get a first hand feel from you since you have visited. How is the climate in April, do we able to see good tea/coffee gardens. The reason for asking this as you can just think that within past 15 years, this is our first trip(exclusive family) out and I wanted it to be bit memorable with good views around.

We do not want to be completely away from the main town as my BIL and me having bit small kids and any urgency may raise suddenly. Is Madikeri and coorg both are same ??

Have think of any other places around Bangalore similar like coorg ?? how much time it takes with moderate speeds one side

^^ RK,

- Climate in Coorg during April wouldnt be very cool. It would be couple of degrees cooler compared to Blore but evenings are lot better.
- Coorg is name of district and Madikeri is a major town in it
- Coorg has more of coffee plantations
- It would take @5-6 hours from Blore to reach Coorg.
- As suggested earlier, if you are realy very keen on enjoying a cool climate, please do consider Ooty as first option.

Lets strike out Oaty off this list. In April, during summer holidays, this is more of a commercial area than an enjoyment place.
Alternative, i heard about
1. masinagudi on the way to Ooty is the better choice. 250 Km
2. Sultan Battery- 255 km

I have a contact number for Sultan Battery homestay right after the checkpost. I will try get that (currently searching in Google). Its good/cheap and also a kind of real stay in the forest with genset power only.

This is true. But every other place would be almost same during holidays in India [lol]
Yes Waynad & Masinagudi are also feasible option. I suggested Ooty because our RK was very keen on enjoying 'cool' climate [:D]

Hmm,

I think it is the time for me to float two different threads now, one for my family trip suggestions and other one for a Bangalore(Chennai) TAI members meet[:)]

Wonderful travelogue Carfreak the pics have come really good, Yelagiri seems to be a nice place to spend a day.

By seeing your travelogue it happens for me to cover very soon this place, i will PM you once i decide to go there.

Some questions?
When you started here from Bangalore and what time you reached and came back, was it enough of time to enjoy or it took too much time for traveling.

Apart from the boating what you guys did, share some more pics of resort if you have explored there.

Thanks for sharing [:D]
Manjoo, you can have a look at my post http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...er-region-meet-chikmagalur-38.html#post273644 for some pictures which I clicked in my 2010 outing with my office team. We did stayed there for a night. It was in December and it was nice to stay there at that time.

You can go for trekking which will take nearly 2/3 hours to reach the top. You can enjoy the scenery there from top.

@carfreak nice rightup & of course pics, thanks for the info. We also intend to go there but I thought at least one night stay would be needed so couldn't go last weekend.

Looking at your report, seems even one day should be good.

I was initially thinking of staying @ Zeenath Taj overnight to avoid driving in the night/evening with 2 yr kid.

Try to stay in hotel where you have pool. Am sure kids will enjoy. We stayed in resort called O'Nilla whch was the only resort with pool at that time. Its okie type resort.

@CF

My plan is for 25th of April which is my BIL wedding anniversary who lives in Bangalore. So I planned to reach Bangalore in my car(this is first trip for my Ritz and also first trip for my family in a car) on 24th by evening and start on 25th to some place.

My options are like this

1. Should be a bit cool place as it is very hot in Hyderabad these days
2. Should not be too far as all the time will go in journey itself and it may not be possible for me to start very early in the morning as we have three kids with us. But can manage to start by 7am
3. If the place offers a good night stay and it should be worth to stay in the night I mean with a pleasant conditions then I try to stay there and return next day morning to Bangalore.
4. Since this is the first trip for my family in my car, I want to give them a little different experience with the place, since children around some kind of play area will be good.
5. Places in mind Yelagiri,Yercaud,Golden Temple-Vellore, Coorg,Chikmaglur,Waynad,ooty

Wish to get suggestions from you and others. Yes it is middle of the week so I really need to check with my BIL(he is on networking side) how easy for him to take a leave from office for two days and also it will be difficult for our members from Bangalore to join me as they are working days, so in that case I will finish this trip with my family and stay back there till weekend and we can have a nice TAI meet some where
Sir, why dont to add some beach resort in Chennai. Just a thought.

I was about to say that. ooty will be like nasty place in summer. everyone go there and make the place nasty. And more over if you are going there, by this time you should have booked rooms if am not wrong.

Thank you Sethu Sir for your suggestions on Yelagiri,

Since travel to Bangalore in my Ritz cancelled and it is by train now, so we will not be planning for long distance things and may settle with a days trip near by Bangalore I hope.
