My beat has clocked near 50,000 kms so far. The next service was due last month, but didn't get time to go. What's the present service interval for a beat diesel. The company seems to keep changing it!

No idea. I would suggest 10k km/1 year max service intervals and 5k km/6 month intervak checkups since running a Chevy without checkups can turn nightmare.

Silently crossed 40k km mark. After visiting the Chevy SVC, the car is not showing much troubles. Apart from once in a while delay in starting, the car is running fine. Thanks to SA Omar of Deedi and his mech.

Now the service interval is for every 10k.
My beat TCDi LS has done 56K on odo and had its last service on 54K. Next service awaiting at 64K.

I have query (not an issue as of now) on front suspensions for this car.
Open the bonnet, look for spot were suspension is attached to body. I see almost 5-8mm gap between the rubber housing of suspension and the body.

Can you also check the same in your car and confirm if it the same in your case also ? if not, i might need to consult the service station. Last time when i showed this to service guys, they told it is same will all beat and it is not an issue.
I need to confirm if they are correct.

it can be due to battery or carbon from starter motor is going

Will check.

Nope. Starter motor engages without any hesitation and cranks fine till it starts. Purely compression loss.

Updates:

September:

Since budget was tight, decided to run the car as long as it can go till it packs up. Gave it to another workshop for second opinion. He confirmed turbo dead and some engine internal issues and also said no harm running till it shows some serious issue like oil level drop or check engine lights up.

Just did an oil change,

Changed oil and oil filter and did a thorough wash.

Engine Oil ₹ 960.00
Oil Filter ₹ 360.00
Mudflap Button ₹ 10.00 x 3

Oil Change ₹ 200.00
Water Service ₹ 500.00

Later that month battery was dead. Bought Amaron FLO. ₹ 4,795.00, got 500 for old battery. 2+2 year warranty. Now the starting delay is gone. @joni_rajpura suggested this before.

2015-10-01 07-11-16.JPG

Car was full of city use scratches and some morons vandalized some panels with scratches with keys. Repainted 75% of the car. All panels except bonnet, roof and bootlid painted including 2 dented running boards. Spent ₹ 14,000.00. Done at Ajith Automobiles. Quality of job was good, better than last time.

2015-10-26 16-32-46.jpg

Stock tyres almost done at 43k km. Time to change. Indian brand tyres were priced sky high. Bare basic Apollos and Goodyear in 4+k range a piece. Cheapest was CEAT at 3.3k. Decided to go for Chinese, yet reputed brand, so chose Nankang.

Bought Nankang N729 Comfort. Chose an upsize on tyre installer's recommendation. Took 175/65R14. 175/60R14 was the right size, but not available. Cost was ₹ 2,875.00. Total ₹ 11,500.00 after additional 100 rs off from agreed price without any bargain. Installation was free, so was free nitrogen. Bought from The Tire Club, Trivandrum.

Side wall is taller and there is significant improvement in comfort level. Bumpy ride is kind of gone.

2015-10-31 12-42-45.JPG

Bought frameless blades again. This time from amazon.in. Price was cheaper than last time. ₹ 323.00 including shipping.

Latest development is a new problem cropped up. Service indicator glows once in a while and when it glows up engine speed is limited to 2k rpm. Gotta check air filter, think it is clogged. Also have to check oil level. Car is not being used much now.

One more thing is central locking packed up. 2 actuators are gone. Is there any cheaper source for Autocop actuators?? Getting quotes of 1.6k per actuator. Accessory guys are not giving the stuff they get for free for reasonable rates. There used to be 4 actuator + central lock unit without remote for 2k. For the time being, actuator. Central locking works with key, but not with remote.

@deville_56, can you provide the link for Amazon from where you bought the frame-less wipers.
I am also looking to buy new ones.

With 175/65/R14, are there any issue with touching springs or body parts? What would have been the difference with 175/60/R14 profile.
Is it recommended to upgrading to 15inch ? I am planning to buy alloy for my beat with 14inch stock steel rims (since 4yrs). I will proceed only based on compatibility and experienced opinion.

No touching or fouling.

175-60R14 would have provided the same ride height and minimal/no speedo error.

15 inchers would look better looks. 165/60R15 or 175/55R15 would be the ideal upsizes, but god knows if such sizes are available in India. 175/60R15 is available, which would be like running on 175/65R14.

Unfortunately, diesel pump packed up. Luckily happened in front of home.

After a short period of hibernation, got a tow truck ride to SVC since most third-party guys failed in pinpointing the issue.

Truck was arranged by cousin working as spare manager in Merc. Chevy guys quoted 3.5k with the same truck guy, got it for 2k through cousin. It was a huge one for tieup with Merc, a Tata 1109. It's turbo whistle was awesome. For Chevy tieup, they got a smaller Tata 709/909. They promptly delivered Chevy dealer without me accompanying, but to a different SA. Got it allotted to our regular guy after a week.

Quote given is disheartening, whopping 80k. Diesel pump plus full service, rear door, underbelly cover, etc in addition to the previous quote of 62k. Paid 30k advance for ordering spares. Waiting for spares to arrive to start work.

Whether this was the problem of losing the Turbo ? You dont have the extended warranty to claim this matter under the warranty ? [embarass]
