MY ALBUS GETS NEW WIPER BLADES AGAIN!
This time, I got a call from HONDA ASS that the time has come to change the wiper blades. This is little unexpected as those HELLA wiper blades described in my earlier pages have not put into use that much and have been there since April 2014.

It’s okay, I have decided to go for BOSCH brand this time which also costs much lesser than HELLA.

I paid just Rs.700/- to the local store and replaced the old HELLA as the driver side blade torn out. Though the passage side was looking good and looking as new, I changed both for matching the design.

BOSCH looks slimmer than HELLA and HELLA’s bracket cover for clip is missing in BOSCH’s design. One more thing, I could get only the 15 size, not the 14 size for passenger side but it got placed well.

Another thing that I did this time, completely prepared the front windshield glass by claying and cleaning before changing the blades.

Hello Doctor,

As always it looks nice and match with the car look.
I also want to change my existing Hella's as they become very noisy. I am very disappointed with Hella's as they last not even for year. Major issue with them is noise.
Now i'll try this Bosch. Was looking online but not able to get 15", all sites has 16". I have dropped message to couple of sellers for 15" but no reply.

Hello Doctor,

I chanced upon your thread recently and am amazed with your dedication and patience not only towards Albus but also in maintaining this thread. Kudos to you [clap]

I couldn't help but go through the entire thread since I am a proud owner of a recently acquired 2017 Honda City VMT (P). Looking forward to more expertise and help from you.

Currently my car is completely stock other than a tyre upgrade to 195/60/R15 Michelin XM2 on the day of the delivery itself and addition of zipper sunshades. I have ordered a few decals from aliexpress like Mugen grill emblem, rear emblem, nurburgring stickers for the rear quarter glass and 'ivtec SOHC' decals for the rear doors. I have plans of changing the stock alloys to black ones provided I get a good price for the existing ones. A lip spoiler also in the cards for which I have already contacted Concept cars.

Hello Doctor,

After many days I have came across some interesting stuff for our generation City models. It's Power Fordable mirrors, The only feature I miss on my car. [anger]

I came across one video on YouTube while checking the possibility of "Remote Trunk Opening" for this kind of mirrors,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzC600r961c

After going some more deep into things finally found Fordable motorized mirrors for our Generation City. Check the link for same on Aliexpress,
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2-P...id=e702f2f7-b8e1-4c71-b807-4944b3b91270&tpp=1

As the name indicates it's all about PINs,
7 Pin means INDICATOR-ADJUSTER-FOLD ABLE
5 Pin means INDICATOR-ADJUSTER (My Model and other "V" models)
3 Pin means ONLY ADJUSTER (All other models except "V")

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Rea...id=0a1d40fd-110d-42b3-a21f-20b569bc1d3e&tpp=1

The point to be consider here is, connectors for all the Pins are SAME means only internal connections are dummy.
So now my question is it possible to put power for that remaining 2 pins which operates folding function?

Separate button is also available for folding,
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/car...id=0a1d40fd-110d-42b3-a21f-20b569bc1d3e&tpp=1

Can anyone guide is this possible or not? If yes then how? I am really curios about this thing and hope some other guys also gets equally excited. I even noticed one order is there from India for fold able mirrors.

Hope to get some positive thoughts form other members. [:)]

PART 105

AFTER MARKET AUTO FOLDING ORVM

@ HaruH

I know - it was your dream, long been waited and how much you are thrilled to know that there is an opportunity available now that you can make it.

I just recalled your query in this thread on 20th March 2014
http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...new-honda-city-white-albus-20.html#post373975

AND MY REPLAY: ABOUT AFTER MARKET AUTO FOLDING ORVM
http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...new-honda-city-white-albus-21.html#post374322

Here, there are three things are involved – electrical, mechanical & electronic. It is very difficult to indulge as it requires motor, control cables, wiring, electronic sensors to understand engine activity and connectors from OEM.
Unless auto foldable mirrors are offered as a company fitment, we are not likely to get the exact model from aftermarket.
It not worth to get some other make and modify, even with extra switch.
The original one is actually interconnected with engine control processor, it unfolds and folds when engine starts and stops, as per experts.
Thanks for the information and links, would be useful to our thread readers.

MY UNDERSTANDING & SUGGESTIONS :

Functions of mirrors with different pins:

3 pins: With Electrical angle adjustable only

3 pins type has only a power side-view mirror that is a side-view mirror equipped with electrical means for vertical and horizontal adjustment from the inside. (USEFUL AGAINST A MANUAL TYPE WITH A KNOB). Therefore, this is not useful to our Cars which has already an electrical control button.

5 pins: With Turn signal lamps & Electrical angle adjustable, without auto folding

Same as above, PLUS with turn indicator signal lamps
We can buy for cars without indicator, we may have to connect /use the existing OE tilting switch to these mirrors as we have to replace the OE MIRROR assembly. But for indicators, have to slice the wire that goes to the fender indicators and to connect.

Instead, we can only replace the outer cover with turn indicator as I did.

That is also available Here:
Side Rear View Mirror LED Light DRL With Yellow Turn Signal Lamp For Honda Civic City 2012-2016

PLEASE NOTE= NO PIN -NO MOTOR -NO FOLDING.

7 pins: With Turn signal lamps & Electrical angle adjustable & Auto folding

This may be well suited to high end OE ANHC (2009-2013FL) in case if there is a need to replace an old damaged one as the connector exactly match the OE pin.
I am afraid, for other cars requires aftermarket modification this pin may not fit directly and individually we may have to connect the channels like – side indicators, tilting switch and auto lock switches ( and also aftermarket auto lock types if not available in OE as in lower end versions)

We may also add an additional switch as available to make it fold but you will lose the pleasure of seeing it getting automatically folded when you lock and go out of your car.

Moreover, we know it is a motorized mechanism and any brutal/ forcible folding should not damage them as it is inevitable in INDIA.[evil]

All the best for those who are going to try.[:)]

Hello Doctor,

As usual very good and detailed reply. [clap]

Yesterday was sleepless night for me as I found something very interesting. Tried to find out wiring to do this thing but not able to figure out anything from Internet. (All the information is either for Accord or for Civic) as City only available in emerging markets.

In the morning got reply from seller for my questions, he is not able to answer the procedure of fixing but he gave me contact number of that other person who ordered those mirror from India. I have contacted that person on phone called as Mr, Rahul. Another auto enthusiast like us, very helpful person, Our conversation is,

R: its a very simple installation and can be done within 1 hour if you have correct electrician with you.
Me: I don't have any electrician who know this kind of work.
R: Don't worry you can order mirror, when you go for installation give me call I'll make video call along with my technician who did this work and guide your person.
Me: That's great news, any other suggestions or info you have for this?
R: Mirrors are good quality and very durable, I have installed one relay kit which fold and unfold this mirrors on locking and unlocking of car (Purchased from India)
Also keep in mind that these are not traffic or India friendly mirrors, If someone try them to fold manually or on other direction then game over, You have to install new set again.. [frustration] This is my 2nd set as 1st got broke off due to this, so I put this relay kit.
Can be this kind of kit: Mirror Folding Relay

With all this and some other chit chat we ended our call.

Now what???? Big question...

Option is there but should go or not. My concerns are,
1. Most of the time my car park in road side or on traffic area. Anyone can easily damage this mirrors.
2. Lot's of wire tempering is required to make this 2 pin conversion. Durability of work totally depends on workmen ship.
3. Cost: Mirror Set + Button Switch + Shipping = Aprrox Rs.: 15,000/- [surprise] Really? So much money for this.. Cost will add up more as Custom duty, Labor charges and Auto folding relay is required to add. So it will be around 22k to 23k approx. Not justified at all. (Spent whole day to negotiate with seller on shipment cost as they are charging Rs. 4000 for standard shipping, No use they are firm on there pricing. Not ready to give internal parts also as external part can be use from existing car mirror)

With all this factors major is Durability with heavy heart I have to drop this plan for now. Very sad...

But as someone said "NEVER LOSE YOUR HOPES", so again wait starts for some new, durable and cheaper option.

Hope some other member will try this on his beloved City and get back with feedback and other information. Or with something fresh..

Thanks...

Hello sir, Your passion towards your car is reflecting here very much. Good to see detailed n precise informations regarding your car. Even i have joined the club with my pearl white i-Dtec VX bought on November 2016. I enjoy everyday drive with my car.

Sir can you help me with car mat and magnetic sun shield ?
I'm really confused over the controversies about which is better than what. I know you would have gone through same situation and made a right choice for your Albus.
Please do share your suggestion. Im from Chennai.... :)

Hi Jean,

I would like to give suggestion for Magnetic Sunshade,

Don't go for the sunshade which I opt and mentioned in post by Doctor sir.

Reason: This type of sunshade get stick on door by using magnet pieces on corners, When you close the door, sunshade gets compressed between door and weather strip. If you are using sunshade constantly it'll leave harsh marks on weather strip which can be lea to water leakage into car. Even I have hardly used for 1 month.

Another disadvantage, to remove sunshade you have to open the door.

What is other option?
You can go for the in-frame sunshades, these kind of sunshades are same like magnetic once, only size in little-bit small so instead of fitting in between door and weather strip it sits in the window frame (Tight Fit).
You can check any car accessory shop for this type of sunshades. They will custom made for you at same cost.

Thanks. [clap]
