I am planning to buy car for my daily use. This will be my first car ever. I had following requirement
1. Mostly city drive (70%), rest highway/expressway
2. Monthly total running about 1000km with 60km roundtrip on some days of months
3. Any fuel preferred but should not be heavy on pocket while usage
4. Safety features are must
5. It will be owned longer time 8-10 years
6. It should age well from looks pov
7. Manual transmission preferred
So far shortlisted following
1. Brezza MT Petrol VXI (11.5L on road)
What works
- Muscular looks and good road presence
- MS reliability and ASS (atleast where i live)
- Mileage concious (have heard that in city light traffic it gives around 16-18kmpl)
- 1.5L NA petrol will support longer and has enough torque for my usage
- Outer build feels stroger than previous 4 star rated brezza
What doesn't work
- interior build isnt feel premium for the price
- Outer Cladding is unnecessarily beefed
- Mild hybrid removed from new model (MS giving vibes of mahindra and have come agressive on their only bread earner in this segment. arrogant move tbh from MS tbh). All Mileage stories that i heard wouldn't be true for me now.
2. Venue S+ Diesel (13L on road)
What works
- 1.5L creta engine and its driving pleasure
- Looks are good. more like mini creta from front.
- Appears to be only VFM variant fir diesel option accross competition
- Interiors are top notch
- Ride quality is good but bit bumpy which is still acceptable given the roads i would drive
- Hyundai ASS
What doesn't work
- Costlier option compared to brezza (although brezza vxi has less things to offer comparatively)
- Diesel future in metro cities. Although i feels its still will take 10-15 years to completely phase out diesel for passenger cars but cant trust govt on this tbh)
3. Grand Vitara Sigma Petrol (13.5L on road)
what works
- Looks are exceptionally good. Real head turner in current time.
- Most vfm variant and car is segment higher
- Mild hybrid could promise 16-17kmpl in city (based on youtubers review which aren't trustworthy though)
- Shares same platform as brezza so expecting good outer build (although xl6 scored 3 star in gncap which shares same platform as well)
- Ride quality is goos for city drives, very commanding drive experience)
What doesn't work
- Looks arent premium enough on inside (still felt way better than brezza. how much one can get for this price anyways)
- shares same curb weight as brezza even being longer still giving similar mileage figures as brezza pretrol mild hybrid. Cant trust MS on where the cost cutting would have been done for this one. Sheet metal quality of GV wasn't as tough as new brezza when i checked it. but cant sign it off as i am not an expert in this area.
- Yet to witness someone with claimed mileage figures for mild hybrid GV
4. Brezza CNG VXI (13L on road)
What works
- Similar to petrol variant
- Only CNG option in this segment left for me
- Mileage and reliability from MS
What Doesn't
- They removed ESP and hill hold from cng variants. tbh this is very bad from MS to remove safety features for the sake of cost cutting. Paying 13L for car without this features doesn't feel sensible at first.
- Rest same as petrol variant
5. Tata Nexon / XUV 300 diesel ( haven't considered as ASS for both of them is hit and miss. Dont want to bet my luck on these even they are very competitive. Especially xuv 300 diesel, none of vehicles i drove so far could match this beast)

Sorry for the very long post.
Please help me finalize from above list.
Also suggest any other option which i should check.

Hi. Welcome aboard! You’ve removed both the worthy contenders: Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300, which tick the criteria shared above. They’re 5-star Global NCAP rated, have future proof designs (XUV300 facelift is due), and their relatively feature laden Petrol variants can be had for the said budget. It seems you’re considering only the SUVs. Do check the Renault Kiger / Nissan Magnite as well in that case.

Drive Safe,
