Yamaha has launched its first hybrid motorcycle in India— FZ-S Fi Hybrid. Priced at Rs 1,44,800 (ex-showroom), the latest iteration of the FZ-S is now available in a single variant and is Rs 10,000 dearer than the outgoing non-hybrid model. Here’s a look at all the key updates in the new Yamaha FZ-S.
The latest version of FZ-S FI gets minor styling updates. The most prominent being LED turn indicators integrated within the air intake area, that adds to its aggressive and aerodynamic appeal. Further, sharper edges on the tank cover give the FZ-S a sleek and well proportioned look. The fuel tank now features an airplane-style fuel cap that remains attached during refuelling, further enhancing practicality.
In terms of features, the updated Yamaha FZ-FI comes with a new 4.2-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster that integrates with smartphones via the Y-Connect app. This instrumentation offers Bluetooth connectivity along with turn-by-turn (TBT) navigation linked to Google Maps, offering real-time directions, navigation index, intersection details, and road names.
Besides features, Yamaha has tweaked the ergonomics of the updated FZ-S FI. The handlebar position has been refined for enhanced comfort during long rides. The handlebar switches have been adjusted for improved accessibility, even with gloves on. Additionally, the horn switch has been repositioned to maximize comfort and ease of use. The 2025 ‘FZ-S Fi Hybrid’ is being offered in two colours – Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey.
The biggest update to the Yamaha FZ-S FI has been the engine which is now OBD2B compliant. The 149cc air-cooled engine now comes equipped with Yamaha’s Smart Motor Generator (SMG) and stop & start System (SSS). These technologies enable quieter startups, battery-assisted acceleration, and enhanced fuel efficiency by automatically turning off the engine when idle and restarting it seamlessly with a quick clutch action.
There is no mention of change in output. Therefore, it can be safely presumed that the Yamaha FZ-S FI Hybrid produces the same 12.4 hp and 13.3 Nm of peak torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox.
