In the backdrops of Central Kerala temple.
Silently crossed 70k last month, now past 71k.
Chosing new footwear. Went in for Michelin XM2 and finalized on them. They showed 2 Yokohoma models when we were about to bill the Michelins.
First one was Yokohoma Earth1. Made in India. More comfortable and longlasting of 2 according to them. Only 185/70-14 was in stock. We wanted 185/65-14 (stock was 175/70-14).
Second one was Yokohoma ES100. Always had love for unidirectionals, so chose it over Michelin and Earth1. Review was mixed. It's soft compound and shop guys said expect 35-40k km life. We are expecting only 25-30k km.
195/60-14, Same size as the MRF ZLO running on the i20, but almost 800 rs extra a piece. This one cost 5140 rs a piece. Totalling 20560 for type plus 600 for alignment and balancing.
Yokohoma.
ES100.
Tread pattern.
Bought from New Bharath Tyres, oldest guys in town and used to be the most expensive and arrogant tyre shop. Thanks to Chinese imports and MRF shops in every nook and corner, they started feeling heat and now the most competitive pricing in town with the widest collection. You can chose from a huge choice of brands and models and also arranges any make/model that are not available with them.
Their equipments are pretty dated. First wheel alignment and balancing and nitrogen was by them. I remember queuing up at 2 in the afternoon and waiting till 7 pm to get my chance for the Estilo back in2006. That was the kind of rush there. Now with more shops, rush has reduced, but still turnaround time is more than others in wheel alignment. Customer waiting area is still of 2000 era with old CRT TV and mobile charing with all pin types with no microUSB in it. Installation and balancing was pretty quick but alignment took 10 mins after lifting up on ramp, which is usually 1 min in other newer shops without any adjustments in suspension. Still happy with the deal and service.
