I can even digest people buying DZire based on brand, but on what grounds Amaze diesel/petrol is selling in such numbers? Except the Diesel engine power and space, I don't see anything else!!
Honda brand has a value based on their city and above models. More over Amaze is giving quite a number of discounts currently. They still perceive Amaze as a better product than other. You can never value Human's Ego [roll]

Dzire sells because it has Proven Engine, excellent after sales, good interiors & price.

Xcent Sells because it is feature packed, has good after sales service, is spacious and not as common as Dzire.

Amaze sells because it has good pair of engines, spacious interiors, rear seat comfort, fuel efficiency and decent ride & handling.

Zest sells because it is more car per car, comes with Diesel AMT, packed with features and is priced cheaper as well.

Aspire sells because it has a very good diesel engine, high FE figures, good dynamics and good equipment list.

So i see this sales trend continuing the same way for many more months. Dzire will remain 1st and Amaze 2nd, while 3rd position will be fight between Xcent & Aspire while the last position will be taken up by Zest.

WOW - Didn't really expected the sale of Xcent to grow that much ! , Dzire is still so much ahead !!! Seems like Maruti can relax for several decades

No Surprises actually, because Hyundai offers higher discount on Xcent then what Honda offers for Amaze. Wish Hyundai plonk the 1.4 CRDi in Xcent that would make it attractive package & Sell better.

That 1.1 Diesel is not at all good, rivals are better. Then there is a fact that Xcent Petrol's sell higher and then there are other cars also which have very competent petrol engines, so here too Xcent looses out. Hence the low sales figures.

Agreed. Amaze sales numbers are not far behind. But as you said, Amaze diesel is better than Xcent, but Xcent petrol is equally good than Amaze. So where Xcent loses out, it captures in other area.

Also, petrol cars sales has been growing over the period. If Honda offers decent discount on Amaze, I am sure the sales will see good jump of 10-30% than what it is now!!

I did a test drive of Zest diesel manual version, here are my impressions.
1. driver seat has got commanding position, but I could get satisfactory view
2. car drives well in city traffic with 3 people on board and with AC, as soon as I switch on AC, I did not feel any lag in drive (I feel some lag in my Beat).
3. drive inside very bad stretch is kind of okay me when compared to my car.
4. boot space does not look to be 390 liters, looks like bit larger than Baleno(in my view).
5. front doors are heavy and rear doors seems to be thin compared to fronts.
6. rear seats are comfortable to 3 (as mentioned by many others/review)

RM told me something different to me about Zest diesel, during highway drives when you approach a speed bump no need to change the gears, just slow the speed in 5th gear itself and car will pick up automatically from 5th itself once you cross the bump!, its kind of new info to me. does anyone know about this ?

Discounts offered:
1. Free b2b insurance
2. 11.5K cash discount
3. 35K exchange bonus
anyone know any other better offers in Bangalore ? I have checked above details from Concorde motors.

Finally during my drive back to home, I felt my 4 years old beat drives smooth in bad roads [:D] .. may be the test drive car was over inflated [confused]

Strange ! Never Knew this aspect of Zest ? was it MT or AT ? In Manual I don't think it's possible for the car to pick up at 5th Gear at all !

The RM must have meant slowing down to reasonable speeds (i.e. around 30 kmph) and any car would be able to pick up from 30 kmph in 5th gear, but this would take a lot of time (for acceleration).

No way it is possible to get to crawling speeds and pick up in 5th gear, without half clutching.

That is too low a discount, you should get better. Zest has the best suspension setup out of all the cars i tried. Baleno, Figo twins, Jazz, Amaze, Ciaz, Ecosport, Xcent, I20 and all

After Watching sales performance of zest and bolt cars its clear that TATA should put some effort on these cars brand & variants positioning to spread towards wide range of customers interms of their requirements still Indian car market need some good practical alround daily need cars.

So here i wish that if TATA able to provide good options in their cars using current lineup and TATA Should move TATA ZEST brand into little bit upward segment where TATA Manza, Toyota Etios and Chevy SAIL sits still i feel that there is a good market for entry level Mid sized(>4m) sedans if the sedan have attractive goodies like we have in ZEST to cater this market tata should think on several variants like below mensioned

if possible TATA should combind Hatchback and Compact sedan in under Bolt brand by eliminating TATA ZEST brand name in current Compact Sedan we can call it like how TATA positioned TATA BOLT and TATA BOLT sedan in south African market

TATA BOLT

TATA BOLT sedan or BOLT-cs(current TATA ZEST)

All New TATA ZEST(TATA Manza Sized Car using TATA ZEST parts)

price it under 10lacks onroad price tag provide goodies like rear ac vents, driver passenger and rear central arm rests , modify door pads to acomodate bottle holders and last but not the least full sized 500L boot space like TATA Manza most of the people frustated boot size of compact sedans[anger]

it can definitely grab some sales figures

and IF possible TATA should enter in Compact Station Wagon space its an very practical segment for customers like who looking to buy compact sized(4m) car with big practical boot space to carry their stuff for this TATA should try TATA ZEST Compact sedan based station wagon name it as

TATA BOLT wagonC price it similar to TATA BOLT Compact Sedan

So by placing BOLT brand for Compact under 4m cars and ZEST brand for mid sized cars
