I don't think that 1.2 iVtec has any NVH issues. Infact, its the most refine engine of the lot followed by 1.2 VTVT of Hyundai's and K Series of Maruti. Zest's Revotron engine is good as it's a turbocharged, but being a 3 cylinder engine won't be as refined as proper 4 cylinder one's
I was commenting soley based by my TD of both Zest and Amaze diesel top end variants. Have not tested petrol ones in both cars. But interiors of Zest, there is no match in the competition of same segment.

Nishant, Zest RT is 4 cylinder engine not 3 cylinder.

IMHO, Zest Petrol will be selling more than Zest Diesel, seeing the Petrol vs Diesel price trend. Also, ECO mode of RT allows to close the Petrol vs Diesel FE gap to a great extent.
Next month car sales report should be good news to Tata Zest. Petrol vs diesel i still think diesel ones will end up selling more.

dreaming of a day zest crosses dezire sales [;)]
It can never do that. Guys n Tata lovers please donot be angry and curse me. I say this because Dzires are sold in heavy numbers to Taxi fellows which Tata Zest is not willing to do. It wants to maintain it as a premium family personal car. Swift Dzire [frustration] is now the erstwhile Tata Indica.

It can definitely cross the numbers of Dzire when actual white board cars are considered. That day will not be far.

Another news which Mr.Mayank Pareek is going to address is getting down the waiting time for few models of Zest from 6 months to less. A very good move indeed [clap].

He says "We should supply to the customer just when he wants. Efforts are on to ramp up production as we also speak to vendors to up the supplies where there is a shortage," he commented. "We should have managed the supplies better,"

Compact Sedans sales in November 2014

MARUTI SUZUKI Swift Dzire - 14009 Units

HYUNDAI Xcent - 3899 Units

TATA Zest - 3835 Units

HONDA Amaze - 3310 units
Good Going Zest[clap]
This is the result of healthy competition in this segment and customer gets all the benefits out of this. Tata kept Zest exactly at the right price knowing the fact, being a better car of the lot they will have to bring back the customer base they lost in past and i think that's happening. I saw 2 new Zest in my office parking and mine is following [drive]
Keep up Zest.

Not all of the Aam Aadmi browses the net to check whether the car is good or bad. For them if they see a lot of that car on road, it must be good. Especially for a brand like Tata who spoiled the image. So more and more Zest on road will increase the confidence and curiosity in potential customers and eventually result in a higher sale of it. I don't think all the 14000 who bought Dzire in Nov 2014 did any extensive research on Pros and Cons of it. The mind set might be "Since everyone is buying Dzire, it must be a good car"
(I am not saying Dzire is good or bad by any means)

One of the biggest reason behind the sales of MARUTI Swift and Dzire is Brand Value and Resale Value of MARUTI Cars

Then why A Star, Versa, Estilo etc became flops?
A-star floped due to miss matched design elements like big face at front end small tail gate on back totally cramped body shell so people have confusions on it

and if we talk about ZEN Estilo when maruti announced about Next Gen ZEN we have lots of expectations but final product we seen here Suzuki MRwagon as new ZEN [frustration] so people avoided

finally Why Versa Failed to grab the attentions means simple reason Maruti positioned this micro van as a semi Premium Compact MPV with bigger engine but finally maruti realized that and rebranded this car as maruti Eeco with with K12 engine with seller price tag now its going well in market[glasses]

TATA ZEST any day !!! everyone else will be trying to get close to Zest in next 5 years !! Zest has put rest of the firms in competition, back in there research labs and meeting rooms to give a good thought about what can be done to cope with this ... On an a closing note, I really hope TATA Motors, will get there head around to see, how they can get a grip with there customer service and customer experience as the product will sell like Hot cakes, but service could be appalling, as this could be a potential a game changer for TATA Motors in the consumer car market.

When the Zest outnumbered the Amaze in October, 2014, many argued that it was primarily because of Honda's production issues, but the same issue plagues Tata too.

Now this is quite a good news for all the team at Tata Motors. The difference between Hyundai Xcent - currently the second best-selling car in the sub-compact sedan segment - and Tata Zest has narrowed down to just 64 units in November, 2014.

Tata Zest Beats Honda Amaze in Sales for the 2nd Consecutive Month
The response theTata Zesthas received ever since its launch must have overwhelmed the folks at Tata Motors, for it has most certainly surprised us. Wait, I will explain. The Zest outsold Honda Amaze in October 2014, and it didn't stop there; the Zest has outsold Amaze for the second month in a row. Interestingly, the margin this time is slightly bigger than the previous month. While in October, 2014 the Zest sold only 42 units more than the Amaze, in November the former sold 525 units more than the latter.

The other significant milestone for the Zest is the fact that the difference between Hyundai Xcent - currently the second best-selling car in the sub-compact sedan segment - and Tata Zest has narrowed down to just 64 units in November, 2014.

Now coming to the numbers, Tata Motors managed to sell 3,835 units of the Zest, thus registering a month-on-month growth of about 9 per cent. Honda's entry-level sedan, the Amaze, saw a month-on-month drop of around 5 per cent at 3,310 units, whereas Hyundai sold a total of 3,899 units, hence registering a month-on-month drop of around 16 per cent in November this year.

When the Zest outnumbered the Amaze in October, 2014, many argued that it was primarily because of Honda's production issues, but the same issue plagues Tata too. The home-grown automaker has also been facing issues in delivering the AMT-equipped models of the Zest since it sources these transmission units from Magneti Marelli, which is currently short on the supply of these gearboxes. The same company also produces AMTs for Maruti Suzuki India, and the Indo-Japanese carmaker too is struggling to meet the demand for the AMT-equipped Celerio. These two might have been facing production issues, but Hyundai isn't and yet, the Korean carmaker managed to sell a mere 64 units more than the Zest in November. Like it or not, the demand for Tata Zest is growing every month.

^^ But Zest is new in the market and Amaze is there for than an year.
Thats what they thought earlier. Its clearly mentioned in the quote i provided. Here again for you:

Hyundai wasn't facing any sort of production issues and yet, the Korean carmaker managed to sell a mere 64 units more than the Zest in November. Above all, Tata had such a bad reputation in the Indian market as Taxi maker, niggles in servicing and still with all this brand image problems Zest managed to outsell Honda Amaze right from second month of launch and for two consecutive months in a row. The third month margin being very respectable 525 units(in october the Zest sold only 42 units more than the Amaze, but in November the former sold 525 units more than Amaze!) which is just short of 64 uints of Xcent.

Honda done. Now Hyundai to beat in the coming months!
Like it or not, the demand for Tata Zest is growing every month.

Zest will come above xcent in sales in December for sure. But never will zest be a competitor for dzire. Similarly bolt will sell good initially but cannot ever produce a threat to swift. For that Tata has to make new models with the same fit and finish or better fit and finish rather than going hibernation for 10 years after a single car launch. I can see Tata kite, coming up. But it doesn't feel anything like a winner. Tata need to start building stuff from scratch and make new platforms rather than trying on 10-15 year old platforms if they want to be the market leader.

Agree

In terms of design I think Tata Kite Sedan will be a huge leap.
