and beside that the music system is really good in storme .

I felt it average before ,then Sanjaysg explained me because we just hear the FM during test drives then he attached his phone and played the songs through the system and the music system was superb .

So another thing I learnt was while test drive one must if possible take a USB with songs or a iPod or a cd with them to test the effectiveness of the music
system .

I know this is a very very small point in big scheme of things , iam not asking to add or minus some points for the xuv or storme iam just curious to know . Or ICE experts can please guide and help here does listening FM and songs from USB or Cd will have difference in the quality ?

in technical terms the Fm radio quality is of 64kbps whereas the mp3 bitrate varies anything between 128kbps for average quality and 320kbps for the best audio quality(cd standards for mp3).
So more the bitrate better the quality.

The Apline unit is a superb unit. BUT the speakers are average. Well for me its more than enough but for an audio buff, may be he'll need an upgrade.

BUT Alpine unit is a problem when you need to service it.

If 3rd is somewhere in my priority I would drop Storme and XUV and would go for Aria or Innova or may be Ecco.

which has more space? same question as 2nd
which is good for long rides? none of them are better for long ride. both are comfortable for kids.

this is my own experience and nothing to do with other opinion because it may differ from individual to individual

1) better in what sense ? If you just taking about ergonomics then xuv is better.

2) none as only kids and small body frame guys can sit there

3) space in what sense ?

4) none , yet I will say xuv has a edge when rows up .

@ RAJA, though XUV has 3rd front facing seats but the leg space is horrible in that sense storme offers better leg space even you can stretch your leg.
carrying bean bags in 3rd row for long ride may adds additional seating comfort in safari. we use to fill bean bags in between 2rd row and jump seats so it increases support to sit.

Actually we shortlisted STORME and XUV here so we no need to consider ARIA and INNOVA.
point is if we keep bean bags in XUV I wonder where kids gonna sit , for long ride we carry more stuff then I wonder where we gonna keep our luggage, bean bag and kids . even if we install roof mounted carrier we cannot keep all stuff there we still need some space in boot.

My answer is Storme , without any second thought except the safty issue mentioned by someone.
There is no problem for people measuring 150 to155 cm.For them underthigh support is also good.For long rides legs can be stretched under other seats.If only one person is made to seat , then some luggage can be adjusted on other seat..

In xuv , short people can seat comfortably, AFA kids are concerned one has to anticipate , how much height growth is expected during ownership of the car.Also xuv has provided rear AC vents which are absent in all storme varients, though middle roof mounted vents are nicely placed to cool the rear also in VX.

In XUV, problem in comfort ,for using the third row is that you need to disturb (alight and renter)the left mid row passenger every time the third row passenger alights or enters.
And the right rear passenger has to disturb the left rear passenger also, either making him alight or rubbing the butt with his face.
All this renders left mid row seat most undesirable.

So many pages !! Me down with cold so missed it all these days. Managed to read only till page6.

I have not yet driven storme , something or other work (prof or personal) used to come whenever I planned to go to check out storme.
However, I have seen in extensively from outside.

XUV on other hand, I have in & out experience so will start from it.

XUV pros :-

The side headlights which get on during turn,
Pick up in 1-2nd gear.

Cons :-
The steering of XUV touched my legs, so I am doubtful about storme, but will confirm once I check it.

Ride quality is bumpy, even on open normal road. Steering feels quite light for the size of the vehicle especially after 80 kmph. It didn't give confidence to go above 110, nor did I take any lane changes etc. at this speed because I wasn't feeling confident especially with the braking. Compare to sedan, XUV brakes look like train brakes.

Was at 30-35 kmph following a truck. Took right, overtook & then gave signal & took again left post over taking. Body roll experienced by rear passengers (2nd row).

Taking U turn was a pain, infact I found accord more comfortable at turn due to better visibility than XUV.

2nd row is OK, tall people will only sit 2 as they need to bend the legs diagonally, similar to economy class in plane. The 3rd row is useless. My entire shoe went inside 2nd row & knee straight into seat.
They should have given more adjustable 2nd row seats which can be pushed behind incase 3rd row is unoccupied.

Dash looked cheapo, all fake but design was good. I checked W6 in Pune, so can't comment about screen & gps as W8 is in Nagpur & I still haven't seen it.

Here are some Qs for myself -

Is XUV true off-roader = No,
Can it handle abuse like Storme = No,
Is ride quality good= No,
Body roll = Yes, even at lower speeds,
Luggage space = 0, else it becomes 5 seater post removal of 3rd row.
Finally, will I buy XUV ? Definitely No. Storme LX is more VFM than W6 & if I had to buy W8, I will wait, save more vitamin M & perhaps buy Rexton.
I started to feel Rexton more VFM than W8, while Storme Lx is better than W6.

Low budget = Storme,
Middle budget = Rexton.

But again me being a sedan lover, doubt whether I will shell 15L or more for UV, infact I won't even buy Storme Vx, let alone W8 or Rexton.

Guys, an observation I had in the market around an hour back. I saw a relatively new XUV with plastic covers still on was making squeaky sounds when braking. Also I guess these were coming from the rear brakes IMO. Even one of the rear Parking lights was not working. The car was looking nice but the squeaks gave it a very bad feel
